Eric LeGrand 'hurt' after Rutgers withdraws commencement speech offer

seems as if Rutgers has used this kid for a lot of things, which in some cases is positive, others it seems like it is a bit selfish. Odd that they can call on him for the photo ops, but when there is a true once in a lifetime opportunity for him they jerk him around.

Alot of folks got mad at me about six months ago when I said Rutgers uses Eric every time they need some press. Hell the Rutgers board and a whole threat on how much they hated me! ( I was honored by it). Well look who is in the news today and trending on Twitter and Facebook! good ole Rutgirls expoliting Eric again for some free press.

They are so sad.

Sounds like they are going to let him speak after all.

"We had no intention of Eric being the only speaker"

So who called him and told him that they were "going in another direction"?

Nice save, rutgirls

Yeah nice save Rutgirls after you got the bad publicity that told you how stupid you were AGAIN. I bet the Rutgers head of PR cries him/herself to sleep most nights.

I live in Houston, TX and was listening to some sports talk radio on 740am this morning on the way to work and I caught the tail end of a discussion about Rutgers. They pretty much said that Rutgers is a complete disappointment and despite what their fans think they are a basketball school not a football school.

And they are a "basketball school" because why?

I do not know. I came into the discussion late. I think the radio hosts' point was not that necessarily Rutgers was a good basketball school, only that if it is known for anything, it would be basketball first. That was my take away.

Hmm...the only think I can really say I know about their basketball program is Phil Sellers (70s?) was decent and they had an abusive coach who was fired a few years ago.

And the reason it's known is because of Mike Rice... I guess bad press is better than no press if you're Rutgers?

they meant women's basketball - after all, I think that's their highest paid coach :rolling:

I really think he meant they are a dodgeball school
