A lot of recruiting is done by assistants, but the head coach has to get his people in the right places, know who can recruit and win,  decide who to offer early, get out and close the deal with the best recruits in the key times of the year.  Coach Mac earned his money in the homes of his top recruits -- selling himself, the direction of the program, SU, and the opportunities to kids like Pat Kelly, Moose Johnston and on and on.   Marrone would be more than worth his money if he could upgrade SU recruiting year over year -- starting from the sad base we had in 2008 and getting us back to some of the excitement of 1997-2002.  To do that, he needs to know what it will take to build an offense and start landing better skill guys and horses up front.
