not on the football field, but in terms of BEST bbq in the ACC. Love it

This is the toughest question I'll answer all year, but my top five would be: Fox Brothers in Atlanta, The Pit in Raleigh, Tom Jenkins in Ft. Lauderdale (which counts as Miami as much as Sun Life Stadium does), Smokin' Pig in Clemson and Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse.

Sports Illustrated columnist and BBQ aficionado Andy Staples said Smokin' Pig or Heirloom Market in Atlanta top his list. Our Travis Haney chimed in with a vote for Smokin' Pig, too. And, for what it's worth, Deshaun Watson gave a ringing endorsement for Clemson's best BBQ joint, too.

But if I have to pick one, I'm going with Dinosaur because anything that can make me want to travel to Syracuse in the dead of winter must be really good. The BBQ Cuban might be my favorite sandwich anywhere, and, unlike the Pig, it's open seven days a week, so I never have to miss a chance to clog my arteries.

David Hale was the one responding below the screenshot...not me. Just to clarify.

The Pit in downtown Raleigh blows Dinosaur out of the water. And I enjoy Dino as much as the next guy.

Anyplace called the Smokin Pig, gets my vote. Seriously though, only been to Dinosaur once, top notch, the only bbq place that I have been to that was better was in the Orlando area years ago, can't remember the name of it.

I've been to The Pit once. It was not good. The only thing comparable to the Dinosaur was the baked beans.

He knows his Atl BBQ. Heirloom and fox bros are 2 best. And like him I'm still taking Dino #1 of those 3.

My Brother, SC_Orangeneck doesn't post much, lurks sometimes, has lived in NC /SC for about 30 years now. He and his wife, who is from down there, absolutely LOVE Dino.

all but the wings, no one can make wings like Dino. Limp doesn't even come close. I do love their mac and cheese though

I love that so many CNYers are so in love with Dino BBQ. It's great to enjoy what you have near, especially when it is really good quality BBQ. I have been fortunate in my travels to enjoy the BBQ in many places where the locals swear by their BBQ such as; the Carolinas (OK), Virginia (weak), Tampa (excellent), Cincinnati (very good), Kansas City (good), Memphis (good to excellent depending on venue), Dallas (very good), Austin (excellent), St Louis (good), Tulsa (OK), Little Rock (Good) and Phoenix (suggest ordering the Mexican food!). I evaluate my BBQ 3 ways...Ribs...Pulled Pork...and Brisket (the truest test in my mind because if brisket isn't great it's hardly worth eating in my opinion! Anyway here is my selections for Ribs - Montgomery Inn Cincinnati (as I said its good to enjoy what you have near!), Pulled Pork -Dinosaur (Something about the charred flavor), Brisket - County Line Austin TX (melt in your mouth hardly needs any sauce!). Best overall I give to a little place a local took me in South Tampa. Residential neighborhood, picnic tables in front yard, walk in front door find a counter to order at and more picnic tables, backyard was filled with cookers and grills, food was served on cheap white paper plates with an ear of corn and slab of johnny cake. 350+ lb order taker said, "if your still hungry when your done just come back in and I'll get you another plate!" No name but obviously well known in the neighborhood. I can't swear that I went to the best places in any of these towns (except Cincy). Disclaimer...I enjoy sauce and rub but the meat is where its at for me. Lastly, Memphis in May is truly a BBQ lovers heaven...put it on your bucket list!

We are truly blessed to have Dino in NYC, too. And casually bringing it up at work, most of my coworkers will stop whatever they're doing to come join the conversation about it. And surprisingly, they won't know that it's an upstate NY joint originally.

If you get true nc bbq that is vinegar based it is horrible and I live just south of raleigh

I went to Dino back February, the friday before the duke game. My fiancé and I thought the food was kinda crappy. Drinks and band were great tho!

Dino is like Anchor Bar in Buffalo ... A tourist trap

Still good but just a shell of its former greatness

I remember going to the Dino when it had the small bar and the bathrooms were where the walkway is now between the blowout dining room/to go space and the real dining room. Had to be about 1992 or 93, before anyone thought the Dino was the greatest and most everyone was hanging at The Crown. I miss the Dino as it was before the corporate buy out. I don't blame Stage for going that route, but it's not the same. And that makes me sad

It's your responsibility to TELL them it's a Syracuse institution. It was born and perfected here, and the Syracuse location remains and always will be the best location.

Not true. I go probably once a month and the food quality has not gone down. People are afraid of change, but change didn't hurt Dino at all.

I think sometimes people need to prove how "worldly" they are by bashing the Dinosaur. "If you like it, it must mean you have never left Syracuse."
