If this keeps up, looks like it could be a very "traditional" NCAA tourney. Wonder if there will even be a Butler, VCU, George Mason type school in the Elite 8 or beyond this year?

Cheers,
Neil

find it difficult to believe Baylor is rated this high...have seen them play twice (TV) and just not that good...the Miss State game was played at a very poor level of shooting and intensity...just dont see Baylor doing that well in the Big 12

Murray State, though they might be a 4 or 5 seed at worst, at the rate they are going. They could (and maybe should) legitimately run the table in the regular season, so they might sneak into the top 10 and steal a 3 seed. That's not a Cinderella anymore, of course, but there's your no name Elite 8 team.

Im jonesing for a powerhouse Final Four this year. I want to watch not just great teams represent, but great programs as well. I think I may get my wish. If you look at the top 15 or so in both polls, its a pretty good representation of the top programs in the country (just replace Baylor and Missouri with UCLA and...maybe Zona).

Is JB the hold out?

I was about to post a thread before I saw this. Does anyone else think that JB is the only holdout? It makes a lot of sense imo.

Murray St plays in a conference where they will not lose. As the power conference teams knock each other off, MS will rise into the top 10. It's a flaw in the system. How is Wiscy higher than Marquette even though they have more losses and lost to Marquette at home? BS.

I don't know whether they are worthy of being rated this highly or not, but they haven't lost and have a guy who is a potential lottery pick...how would you keep them from ascending to this position given the way the polls work?

It would be a "flaw in the system" if the polls meant something, but in basketball they mean nothing.

While Murray St may enter the top 10 at some point in time during this season, even if they end up undefeated heading into the NCAA's, I don't think they will get higher than a 5 or 6 seed. They only have 1 team currently rated better than 200 on their remaining schedule.

Ohio State is four spots below Duke?

Murray State won't climb into the top 10... and no way will they ever be a 3 seed. a 5 seed is the highest I can imagine them getting and probably lower... have to base seeding on the RPI. They are sitting at 16 with an SOS of 144 entering into a very weak conference schedule. Their RPI and SOS are gonna drop.

Two things:

1. I agree that JB is the hold out. To switch from Ohio State to Kentucky shows that the person voting just doesn't want to reward Syracuse. All the theories about the coach who lost to OSU and conference affiliation have to be thrown out the window now.

2. Regardless of seeding, I don't see Murray State as an Elite 8 team. They look like they would be competitive in Conference USA, which doesn't equate to much these days. Getting to the Sweet 16 would be considered an accomplishment for them.

2-loss UNC is currently #3 in the AP Poll, which is bizarre to me. Don't understand how anyone could reasonably rank them ahead of 1-loss and RPI #2 Duke, or undefeated Baylor.

They started #1, so they had more room to fall.

There is no way Murray State is anywhere close to a 3 seed. Remember when George Washington went 29-1 or something and was an 8 seed?
