Thanks. All these people complaining about nobody respecting us is ridiculous. Like Desmond Howard said, "Respect is earned." Winning 4 games against 4 teams ranked in the lower half of college football has given us the amount of attention that is due to us. It has people talking, but waiting to see what we do against a ranked team. People are gaining respect. It's a process. You don't go from 17 years of futility, to gaining national respect after beating 4 below average teams. There are plenty of 4-0 teams left. Do those same people that feel we aren't respected enough, have respect for Cal, Buffalo, Colorado, Cincy, Duke, South Florida, and North Texas? Some of those guys have better resumes, and are still unranked too.
Just enjoy the ride. If we're good enough, we'll be ranked at some point. Point blank, period. When we show what we can do vs. Clemson, NC State, and the like, we will gain that respect.

I mean the level of ineptitude displayed especially that Kirk has witnessed occasionally in person is probably difficult to unroot from his mind. I mean to have a Gameday piece on SU football?! You know it doesn't always work like that for teams like SU. We deserved to be ranked Nassib's senior season, but because of some early losses after coming into the season with no respect, we never got the recognition.
For a program that is climbing a mountain, handholds are hard to come by. My fear is we come out today and lay an egg. We could win the next 4 games and still only be in the list of others receiving votes.

Everyone understands that respect is earned and SU needs to finish out a season before that happens. But Herbstreit just laughs when talking about SU. The team doesn’t deserve that level of disrespect either. Dabo Swinney knows who the better team was last year on that day. Why is Herbstreit trying to take everything away from what that team put in by laughing it off and saying that it would have never happened if Kelly Bryant wasn’t knock out? That’s why people have a bad taste in their mouth. They played a complete game and deserve respect for that.

I think some people overplay this aspect for some reason. Yes, there are plenty of people not old enough to remember a strong Syracuse program. But at the same time, actual sports fans are always aware of past successes and it gives a program at least a certain level of historical clout.

For example, when I was a kid Pitt usually sucked. I had never witnessed them not sucking at the time. But I was aware that they had been really good with Marino and Dorsett. It gave them more clout to me than the programs like Rutgers and Temple, because it was a “can they get back to_____” scenario rather than a program that was truly small time.

Yes. He comes off like a rival school’s fan who will only say good things about Cuse when there’s nothing else he can possibly say, but if there’s a way he can downplay, discredit, or question us, he will find it and ride it as far as possible.

At this point, it feels like he’s just doing it out of habit and for the reactions he knows it will cause. Like a troll. But I think it’s rooted in his actual feelings.

Have to think we start a little better if Pugh wasn’t hurt early in the year. Too bad. Tough early schedule combined with our best player being out. That team was pretty good.

Yup. I don’t ever remember him finding anything positive to say. Yes we’ve been down for a long time but even when we’ve shown signs of life, he’s always more down on us than the rest of the crew.

The problem with the polls is that it's a huge uphill climb if you aren't getting votes a d toi have a loss or two. It's far easier to climb a few spots by winning if you're already getting votes, because a lot of voters look at who wins and loses on the list when voting.
