Evaluating our defense

Because of the speed at which our offense plays (quick scoring drives as well as three and outs) our defense is forced to face more possessions per game than most other teams. Rather than looking at the number of points allowed per game perhaps we should look at points allowed per possession or the percentage of possessions where we don't allow points (stops) in determining how good our defense is. Hopefully SWC our "bored historian" or Stern, who recently dug up a stat on the % of possessions we score on could come up with the necessary data. I suspect that our defense might just be better than most think.

why do people keep on saying we got 3 and out when the stats show that we dont?

we are not running nearly as fast as people say this year a 14 play 5 min drive is no different than an 8 play 5 min drive for our D sitting on the sideline.

our possession issues are more because our D doesnt get off the field than because our offense goes to fast. we have the ball 15 more min and ran 14 more plays so possessions had nothing to do with the D not stopping wake.
