I disagree with Nate Mink on the *salary that Andre and Ifeatu are going to paid for the next four years and their bonuses. *Unless the salary and bonus for Andre was adjusted. Nate would have to chime in on that.

I asked Google what the average salary and signing bonus is for a third round pick and I got not only that but salaries and signing bonuses for every round. Quite revealing and interesting. These are the basic contract values and bonuses for all

For comparison I took the first five picks in the first round so you will be able to see the difference about getting drafted in the first round and third round and included all rounds. You can see the obvious difference between round 1 and the rest and I never knew there was a range in contract total value and bonuses but there is. I bolded Andre and Iffy's shares.

“The rookie wage scale was previously put in place to avoid the top picks in the NFL draft from essentially making more money than some multi-year starters were. Obviously, there are still kinks that need to be worked out, but at the very least, a set salary is now in place for how much players who are selected in the draft are paid.

This all stems from the 2011 Collective Bargaining Agreement which set up a value for every pick in the draft from No. 1 to the final overall selection. This includes the total value of each player’s contract, their signing bonus and also the cap hit which the team absorbs. Beyond that, all deals are over four years, but first-round picks have a fifth-year option available to teams.

NFL Draft Pick Salaries: How Much Do Rookies Make on First Contract?

We’re going to take a look at the latest scale for each round of the draft. It’s worth noting that the rookie wage scale could change in the upcoming seasons, but nothing has been set in stone on that. For round one, it will be broken down by every single pick, but from that point, the contract sizes all get much closer. In turn, we’ll then evaluate the ranges for picks in each of the other rounds.”

Dumb question but all that is dependent on making the team correct? Not that a pick that high wouldn't but just curious.

Probably not. About a 1 in 1,000 chance of making the NFL, with an average 18 month career. (1.1 M high school football players, with about 250 drafted/year) Only 250,000 kids fail to do so each year.

I believe the only guaranteed $$ is signing bonus.

yep, only the signing bonus is locked in, but like you said, a 3rd round pick isn't getting cut, unless they do something really bad off the field. at least they won't get cut the first year or two.

Wait. $58 million before you’ve played a single game? Seriously? Over 3 years? What a stupid society we are. Can we please stop building stadiums on taxpayer money now? Holy!
No. Signing bonus is the major part of the total payment. Total value is the number, not them combined ... but yeah still that’s hefty guarantees right there

Do undrafted signers like Trill get any signing bonus, or is it just salary for them?

Depends on quality of the player and the agent/agent's relationships.

Correct!

Every undrafted player signs the same three-year contract, which means all 13 become restricted free agents in Year 4. Their base salaries are $610K, $780K and $895K per season over the next three years. So all these deals are basically three-year contracts worth $2.285 million — what differentiates them is the guaranteed money and signing bonuses. All that matters for salary cap purposes is guaranteed money.

The easiest way to tell how much a team likes an undrafted player is to follow the guaranteed money and signing bonus amounts.

Just last year, the Eagles held on to three of their four highest-paid UDFAs: T.J. Edwards, Nate Herbig and Sua Opeta, who all got at least $80,000 in guaranteed money.

Elijah Riley, DB, Army

Adrian Killins, RB, UCF

Prince Smith, DB, New Hampshire

Julian Good-Jones, G, Iowa State

Dante Olson, LB, Montana

Signing bonus: $0

Khalil Tate, WR, Arizona
Guarantee: $10,000
Signing bonus: $0

Practice squad $8400 week
Rookie Minimum $38,880 week

Substantial differences between going in the 3rd and UDFA. Same with roster/practice squad

It makes good financial sense to leave early if you are a lock for 3rd round and up. Diminishing returns after that, especially if an extra year may have pushed you into the higher signing bonus category.
