[QUOTE="jr4750, post: 279267, member: 117"] As if we will again be missing key components to success, offensive skill players, FOGO's, goalie, etc. I agree, that there is certainly means for concern in all those areas and more, especially after what we have seen this year. More importantly than all of that, as I think we have the skill to compete against anyone on the roster now, is LEADERSHIP. For whatever reason, and has been eloquently stated here numerous times, we have failed to be mentally tough in games that could have been wins down the stretch. Duke, Nova, G-town, these are games the previous teams wins on reputation and hustle alone. The 08 squad that turned around a horrible season into a ship had great players certainly, but they also had strong leaders. Leville, Nims, Brooksy, killed themselves and pushed their teammates in the offseason to be better physically and mentally than anyone they faced. This offseason, finding someone to standup and push everyone like a coach instead of like a buddy (Megill?) will be crucial towards not letting the same letdown happen again. If we are looking in May for a recruit that would come in as a freshman and solve our issues, WE ARE SCREWED! Find leadership and determination, the talent and athleticism is there... *And before someone says that there is no way we have the same offensive talent we did in 08, stop, because I agree. We also had Danny Brennan, who made everyone's life much easier. However, I'll argue that defensively, minus Galloway, we are better, or at least should be, and JG was a freshman that was a bit of a liability at times. We will have three returning keepers with experience next year, and I'm excited about Wardwell, he just has the look of someone who will be good. Let's hope Billy Ward, Kevin Rice, and Maltzy have strong offseasons. I think there is an offense in there somewhere... BTW: We still have a shot this year, and I can't write us off until the final whistle sounds. I do agree, our chances our very slim. As much as I'd like to get into the tourney, a team like Cuse plays for championships. Making it into the 1st rd, only to lose and be fodder for some middling team who dreams of beating us is not my idea of success. If losing in the BET spurs our guys to make changes, sign me up!
