Syracuse Women Win It All
It's about time, right?

Syracuse has been on the brink of winning the NCAA Division I title over the last five years, making appearances in the past four final fours. In the 2012 championship, the Orange fell by two to perennial powerhouse Northwestern. They again reached the title game in 2014, but lost 15-12 to Maryland in the middle of the Terps' return to dominance.

Coach Gary Gait has been an advocate for a shot clock the past few seasons after his team seems to fall victim to stalling when the games matter most. With the new rules in play this spring, the up tempo, quick restarts will likely benefit his squad as Gait continues to encourage creativity.

Plus, if there's any year for Syracuse to win its inaugural NCAA crown, it would be 2016 — when Kayla Treanor is a senior. The two-time Tewaaraton finalist has tallied 303 goals in her career, which currently ranks fourth in program history. She only needs 94 more points to break that record, surpassing Katie Rowan's former mark of 396. And remember Halle Majorana, the standout transfer from Maryland that fit perfectly in the Orange offense? That duo could reach new heights this spring.

Bonus fact: Maryland may have eliminated Syracuse from the NCAA tournament from 2013-2015, but the Terps lost seven starters and 42.2 percent of their point production, compared to four and 22.45 percent for Syracuse. — M.S.
