Finally saw The Bishop's Wife for the first time the other night.

Eh.

It was fine, I enjoyed it, but it'll be years before I feel the need to see it again. I'm surprised that so many have it in the conversation with Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life, and others of that ilk.

Also watched about 45 minutes of Mixed Nuts (Steve Martin and a whole bunch of other funny actors) last night. How can you go wrong with a '90s Christmas comedy written by Nora Ephron with that cast of names involved? I dunno, but it was brutal. Had to turn it off.

It's A Wonderful Life
Miracle On 34th Street

Lawrence Welk
Mitch Miller
The King Family

The Ref is my favorite off the beaten path Christmas movie.

I love The Office Christmas episode. It's the episode where you don't think Michael can recover from the awkwardness, but along comes vodka to save the day.

Fun fact (at least for me): the ocarina player Joey (Robinson Stone) was my English (with emphasis on theater) teacher my freshman year at Fordham (before I transferred to Syracuse).

Fordham? ...meh

I love Big Bang Theory, especially the first several seasons, and one of my favorite episodes is The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis (S2E11). His repudiation of the exchanging of gifts sets up a wonderful counterpoint to his receiving a truly priceless gift (in his mind) and his reaction is wonderful/hysterical/touching and still brings a tear to my eye.

Good topic.
There are a couple of MASH Christmas episodes, and one Mayberry that I like (where old Ben Weaver is a Scrooge and they celebrate in the courthouse).
The Waltons pilot movie ("The Homecoming") is really good.
I used to enjoy the Red Skelton and Andy Williams Christmas specials also.

We have pretty similar lists. Which Christmas Carol version?
