You either play for your school or you will not be eligible to play in the NCAA. The NCAA has not had much love for the big AAU for a long, long time. If you look at who's won the Sullivan Award, given to the "best amateur athlete" of the year, none of the winners got the award for what they did in an NCAA sport.
