Good team that gets thumped in big games. Oh well, on to BC. Lets win that one and go 9-3. Huge accomplishment for this year. Hope Eric is okay.

I doubt that we can do it. Notre Dame exposed how to stop DeVito's. I hope we find another dual threat quarterback really soon.

I don’t remember getting thumped too many times in the mid 90s. Maybe at VT once or twice.

I hope we are lucky enough to have this program back to the level of the 90's.
This is what our 90's teams did. We were ranked between 15-25 but would get our asses handed to us on national tv. These were all blowouts from 93-98. Not to mention some close losses to bad teams like ECU.
38-17 to NC State
31-10 to Florida
31-3 to Va Tech
35-18 to K-State
27-10 to UNC
31-7 to Va Tech
27-6 vs Miami
31-0 vs Bc
49-0 to Miami
43-0 to WVU
45-24 to Va Tech.

Point is, if our goal is to be back, losing 36-3 to ND is hardly a reason to think that we aren't back. It's just kind of what we did in the 90's.

Good to be back.

Good to be back.

Who drilled us when we were good? VT? Florida in the Orange Bowl? Other than that...I don’t remember any.

We beat Wisconsin, Michigan, lost to Tennessee by 1. Miami games that we lost were good games in the years we were good.

look above your post...I listed a lot of times we were blown out between 93 and 98.

Well...a bunch of those were 93 and 94 and we weren’t all that good those years.

Forgot about UNC.

Kansas State game was closer than the score indicated and got away from us late if I recall.

We were really good in 91, and lost 46-14 to FSU, and were even better in 1992 and lost 35-12 to OSU as well.

K state game was very close. Refs took away Antonio Anderson strip/sack and said QB was down which was the wrong call KSU then scoredto put the game away. “Stuff”Happens but that was no blowout.

We they lost to ECU it was against teams that went 11-1 and 9-3 (McNabbs second start) by three points each time. Hardly bad teams.

Comparing this team after one blowout to an entire era seems foolish. This is a program that is still undermanned talent wise vs. some of the elite teams. Things are only going to get better.

Right. Even that UNC game was a blocked punt returned for a TD being taken back by penalty away from being close, even though UNC did clearly outplay us. Still, we beat them the year before.

We beat Ohio State too, since he’s mentioning the loss. The narrative that we would get hammered by good teams is a false one. We beat a lot of them too, and had a lot of barn burners with them as well.

You clearly have missed the point. I'm not comparing this team to an era. The point was that losing a game 36-3 to the #3 team doesn't mean we are not back. In our run through the 90's (our golden years), it wasn't uncommon to be ranked 15-25, and have our ass handed to us by a good team. If getting back to what we did in the 90's is our benchmark for being back, then what this team has done this season, including getting exposed on national television today, is pretty much what we did in the 90's.

Yes, you're right. I forgot they had some good teams.

Jeff Blake was their QB in 91 and one of the best QBs in the country. Solid pro QB. Met him in a mall in Greensboro, NC once. Nice guy.

I think I'm more upset that Maryland blew that game against Ohio State.

This is the best Cuse has been in a couple decades, I'll get over a loss to the stacked Notre Dame and relish the next game we play them in the dome. Onward
