The No. 5 Syracuse field hockey team will play its first ACC contest of the season on Friday in a battle of top-five teams, when the Orange travel to North Carolina to square off with the No. 1 ranked Tar Heels.

Game Coverage
- Fans can also follow the Orange on Twitter.com/CuseFH, the official Twitter home of Syracuse Field Hockey, or on Facebook at Facebook.com/SUfieldhockey.

Orange 6-0
- Syracuse starts the season 6-0 for the sixth time in program history.
- The start ties the 1981, 1997 and 2013 teams for the best start in school history, trailing just the 2008 team (14-0) and 2012 (12-0) in terms of starts.
- Syracuse topped Ball State and Albany (who moved to No. 12 in the NFHCA poll this week) in last weekend's homestand.

Series History
- This is the 7th meeting between the two teams, with the Tar Heels owning a 5-2 record all-time against 'Cuse.
- The series has been tight under head coach Ange Bradley though, with the teams alternating wins in the five meetings under her watch, leading to a 3-2 North Carolina advantage.
- This is the first time Syracuse has faced North Carolina since losing to them in the ACC tournament on Nov. 11, 2013.
- Prior to the loss, Syracuse beat North Carolina at home on November 2, 2013.

Current Orange vs. the Tar Heels
- Junior Emma Russell has one goal and one assist in her career against North Carolina, including the overtime winner in a 1-0 win last season.
- Lauren Brooks also has scored against the Tar Heels after scoring the Orange's lone goal in the 2012 NCAA semifinal.
- Jess Jecko has started twice in cage for the Orange against North Carolina, allowing just one goal.

Scouting North Carolina
- The Tar Heels are averaging 4.25 goals per game.
- Senior Charlotte Craddock leads the team with four goals, but classmate Loren Shealy owns a team-high nine points (three goals, three assists). Freshman Gab Major has also found the back of the cage three times.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Shannon Johnson has a save percentage of .818 while starting all four games.

Scouting Syracuse
- Senior Lauren Brooks has been the Orange's top-scorer through the first six games with seven goals.
- Jordan Page and Emma Russell have been efficient as well with five goals apiece.
- Both goalkeepers have been solid in cage, allowing just 0.82 goals per game thus far.

Visser the Disher
- Freshman Lieke Visser has been dishing out assists at a frantic pace so far this season.
- She has accumulated nine assists including five assists to go with her one goal in the Orange's homestand against Ball State and Albany.
- Only one goal on the weekend was scored by 'Cuse that Visser didn't score or receive an assist on.
