The final KANE Men’s DI Media Poll has been announced, closing out NCAA lacrosse season.
In the end Cornell spent eight weeks at No. 1, including the most important final poll after hoisting the NCAA Championship. No. 2 Maryland spent three preceding three weeks (Weeks 4, 5, 6), while preseason favorite Notre Dame finishes at No. 6 in the final poll.
Cornell was No. 3 in the preseason poll — high expectations considering the Big Red missed the NCAA Tournament in 2024. They were steady from there, with a March 8 overtime loss to Penn State as their only misstep. Shortly after that setback, it was clear they were the best team in the nation.
The final KANE Men’s DI Media Poll is a largely ceremonial ordering of the NCAA Tournament teams.
Army, though, was the first team ranked by the media that was not in the NCAA Tournament field, coming in at 11. The Black Knights finished 12-2 but lost in the Patriot League Semifinals and did not get selected for the May Madness.
