We watched an offensive line that looked like kids one or two years out of high school against MTSU physically dominate what is generally regarded as the best front seven in the country, all of whom will likely be playing for pay in the near future. Despite losing perhaps their most talented player preseason this group has come together . With another offseason in the S&C program, with McGloster the only one of 13 scholarship O-linemen exhausting eligibility and with a stellar group of recruits coming in to fill holes and improve depth the sky is the limit. And as bright as the future is on the O-line, the D-line is keeping pace. Late medical DQs and injuries to perhaps the top THREE DEs left us with little experience and less depth. But a couple of late additions along with the development of young players and the resurgence of Kayton Samuels have made this a formidable group that again, gets better week after week. FIVE sacks against Clemson! And if we feel great about having 12 of 13 scholarship O-Linemen all 14 D-linemen have eligibility remaining going into 2018. Rodney Williams makes plays. Yes, we wish he were a bit more physically imposing. Yes, we would like to see him be more consistent, particularly in coverage. But the kid has a nose for the ball, loves to hit and you can count on him to come up big when we need it most. That 6 yard TFL in the second half completely shut down a Clemson drive and reignited the crowd. Having depth guys (or underbelly using Dino's new favorite term) is invaluable to a defense.
