i just read that the supposedly financially strapped university of maryland is paying the new coach 12.5 mil for 5yrs. i expect to see the same numbers from financially strapped rutgers. we are we in relation to these??makes it more glaring that we turned down state money for a new stadium. we have very little in our favor to attract a candidate, a poor decade or more of performance, recruiting area is questionable, etc etc. we built an ipf, but so is everyone else or is planning to do so. we need to become a pseudo state school such as cornell. we do not have the academics of a northwestern, vanderbilt, financial support of a baylor or alumni support etc etc fan base has eroded tremendously due decade or more of administrative neglect for the program. an old sec coach(bowden maybe) said several years back that syracuse needs to make up their mind if they really want to have a football team or not. we are at the crossroads of we are either all in or d2---shades of 1979

So, $2.5M per year? We'll probably pay close to that.

If Syracuse hires an experienced HC then I would expect to see similar terms ($10-12.5M, 5 years) for that coach.

The Maryland AD is not that cash strapped anymore. Also, you're forgetting that Kevin Plank is ALWAYS willing to front the bill to pay the coach if he has to.

durkin was the defensive coordinator not a experienced head coach--thus speaks well of marylands commitment to upgrading the program---but they have under armour support---what do we have or could get???

because of kevin plank??? very true. nevertheless, it changes nothing for us. we need to be planning on how to get what do not have rather than using excuses what everyone else has. i am not being sacarstic here. how can we improve our situation???do we have wealthy alumni corporate or otherwise that are invested enough to help out ? if so what are we missing. just feeling frustrated here. i would rather be fcs than continue to be embarrassed on the national stage.
