For those who potentially selected an extra west lot pass or if your an out of town ST holder who just grabbed parking to be safe we are looking to buy your extra west lot pass. While a majority of the fine lot personnel was able to get a pass before they sold out we have a few major contributors who got shut out and were attempting to get a pass for them. If you have an extra or know you'll have a free one available for a number of games please send me a PM. We need to ensure those these critical members are taken care of in order to ensure we can logistically handle the tailgate. Thanks!

“Free” as in unused, not no charge, right?!

Although if you wanted to exchange a parking pass for one or two games for special consideration at other tailgates I am sure it’s open to negotiation!

Yes by free I mean available, good catch. Although we can certainly barter for it!

Too bad the school didnt think about that problem before passes went on sale. Isnt there a few other bigger tailagates also in those lots who may have had the same issue?

Forward thinking may have been to talk to the bigger tailgates and maybe work with those groups to get some passes ahead of time.. They worked with premium seat people, why not premium t
tailgate people as well.

What were we talking 5-10 passes to make the process work better?

Maybe you guys need to work with some NIL RV/van place to upscale an promotion so that you could meet someplace and haul in more equipment and people with one vehicle? Or work with the school to allow 1 RV for a big tailgate and you could haul in 10 people and stuff easier. One
RV would be less space than 5-10 cars take up. Maybe 1 king cab truck/uhaul and a trailer and you park at Destiny and 1 group goes to campus and back.

you go to the big places like LSU and they had custom RVs and trailers hauling stuff in pretty close to the stadium

This was all working incredibly well before our favorite bureaucrat at SU Auxiliary Services got involved. There was even an Express train that took fans from downtown right to the back of the Fine Mess parking lot. You could buy passes for that same lot ... so your car was actually at the tailgate. Now the train has disappeared (because CSX doesn't feel like it), the lot is combined-use and we have a perennial access issue. As an out of town STH, I can tell you how frustrating it is to pay $30-$40 for a parking spot (on top of the $2k tickets), drive the fam 1.5 hours, arrive two hours before game time, and roll up to a barricade. "Fine" is becoming a "Mess" that needs to get cleaned up.

We have an RV ready and willing to use

We have tried numerous times with Syracuse to allow us to bring the RV in.

They have yet to agree.

If they were to allow us this RV it would help us tremendously

The only lots available when I selected this afternoon were the blue lots. I think the closest was the parking garage down University. When I asked my rep why both West lots sold out much quicker than previous years he said that it was a combination of people getting more than one pass and first time buyers. I ended up not getting parking at all and will figure out something in the fall.

MLK JR school would be my best advice

Even an aluminum shed would help to store equipment so that our hard-working stewards don't have to schlep it all back and forth for each home contest. SU - assuming it still "values" the game experience - could charge a nominal fee ($100/season) for use of the shed. This is all a no-brainer ... (my suspicion is that there is a bureaucratic obstacle that needs to get cleared away).

Yup, also an idea we’ve presented. We would acquire the shed, put a lock on it.

Probably could even paint it SU colors and brand it with their marketing team too

Unfortunately, as of this moment, Syracuse does r recognize the tailgate culture they have.

It’s actually pretty robust

"Robust" is right. Tail gating is a part of the game experience that SU has yet fully to embrace. I'm not a "complainer" and support the U on most issues. But the fact is, it was the Fine Mess, not the product on the field, that got many of us through the Gerg years (and a few others). The challenge now, IMHO, is securing an audience with the actual parking lot decision maker(s). I think our ideas would be well received, and we have the connections to get to the bottom of this. Let's use them.

I'm pretty sure SU would frown upon storing propane gas (or other hazardous materials) in an unsecured shed on university property. It would take all of about 30 seconds for someone with a bolt cutter to break in and steal everything.

That or the ESF lot. Though the ESF lot really only makes sense if you also go to a lot of other events in the dome.

Simple solution is for SU to realize there are some bigger tailgate groups that might need some special handling. Require the groups to show they are of some X size 25-50-100 whatever it is. Then those groups get some special treatment IE passes and can bring in some bigger setups that normal people can't. You could even charge more for the passes for the special setup. What are we talking 4-5 of those in those lots of any real size and custom setup?

No more than they do for the special way they treat the box/floor seats and such inside the dome.

When you to real tailgates down south and see the setups you realize how far behind we are in making that happen up here.

This isn't about letting a one off RV drive down into the Fine area for a single game and 10 people to cook a burger,

Just like the money people got first dibs on tickets, the special tailgates should have gotten some first dibs on parking for the setups. Show the commitment and the school helps you out.

I'm not sure propane tanks or grill equipment would constitute much of a theft risk. Anyone desperate enough to hoist a propane tank or grill could get the same thing from any RV park. Cooking equipment is bulky and heavy and would likely require a vehicle. And for what - the street value of a used grill? I guess an accidental propane ignition is a (extremely remote) risk ... same with any RV, home grill or outdoor fire pit. I have a hard time seeing a shed as a liability risk. But I'm not an underwriter for SU's liability carrier.

I wonder if a DM/email to Fran could help this.

He seems to be able to grease some wheels and obviously is putting the community above archaic, outdated 'just because' policies that were really based on indifference, inertia and general arrogance, regarding the fan/community experience.

I bet he would fix something like the Fine Lot, the literal minute he found out about it. Particulary as we are now associated with the Orange United etc.

Hey just wanted to bump this. We're trying to piece together the month of Sept. Looks like w may have Ohio covered but trying to get the rest of the month taken care of. Again certainly will compensate for the pass. Thanks!!

I can help with Ohio, Holy Cross and UConn

Will have to mail as I am not local, but that hasnt been a problem for the squad in the past

Absolutely will take u up on that. That will cover us all but 1 game as we have the Nov games covered (tentatively). Hope we will see u in person for one this year

I will let you know what I got available pending work. Working on another pass myself too for alot of this as well for the first game just for invites/not tailgate issues.

Hey, I park at Martin Luther King School. Free or maybe $5. Easy 5 min walk to the Fine Mess tailgate

Yes, but tough for the couple of core SyraCRUZ crew members who truck in a car load of equipment each week! We have managed to cover almost everyone but still need 2-3 passes for each week to maintain the world class tailgate level everyone is accustomed to.

Now, if you have a West parking pass and want to make it available to us, recoup enough to buy 2-3 Dome beers and make a short walk with Roger from MLK please let us know!

Here is what you can do. Have the person with the parking pass meet a "hardcore tailgater" at MLK then the pass holder can ride up to the Fine lot with the tailgater and use his pass to park. A suggestion would be for the Fine Lot tailgate LLP to order three passes next year and divy them up for who ever is going to cook.

This is a sound solution.

Unfortunately, the drone pick up service will not be available for several more years.
