Schertz has more overall coaching experience and also has more top players with eligibility who could possibly come with him. If either he or Skinn make the tourney this year it will be the first D1 ncaa tourney they’ve taken a team to( both have made NIT and Schertz had a ton of tourney success at D2 level)

Hodgson, being a Nate Oats guy is feeling his way through with the new gig at USF. His teams play fast and both score a lot and give up a lot and style is as expected the same as Oats and not as easy at a level up. I think his value is still there but maybe cooled off a bit. Seeing how many points his team has given up this year gives me pause and I think he has to have the same level of talent like Oats pulls at Bama to be a true success at the P4 level and that’s not a small order given the massive SEC money chest available in Tuscaloosa. Still think he’s a solid to good coach but there are some fair questions on his ceiling as a coach to me now. Seeing what he’s done so far this year explains a bit more as to why his next move wasn’t directly from Ark St to the P4 level.
