Yes and yes. He started failing on the recruiting trail because of lack of effort, old age (couldn’t relate to players as well) and lack of aggressiveness in restocking rosters year to year. He left it to Hop and the staff to develop and nurture the relationships with high school and AAU coaches and prospects. Pumped the brakes with Hop and the staff on difference making prospects like Brunson, Monte Morris, SGA, and more. Then Hop left for Washington  and the wheels fully came off the recruiting operation.

He also failed to adjust once the zone wasn’t working effectively anymore against 3-point shooters and prevented us from competing for the top recruits because we played 100 percent zone, which is bad for the top college kids who want to get to the NBA. Then he failed to adjust to the portal and players having more power.
