What it honestly reminded me of was sometimes when you're in court and the judge clearly wants the other side to win (either because in the big picture he thinks they're right or because the other side is local, or because the judge ios beholden to either the plaintiffs or the defese bar). You'll get rulings in your favor once in a while, but only if the judge has no wiggle room whatsoever. Any place where he has any wiggle room, he's going to screw you.
