I was joking but he did leave very little behind for Shafer who was stepping up to the ACC from the Big East. It also didn't help that Shafer lost his starting QB in year 2, and in year 3 lost both his starting and back QBs.

Not sure I agree with the theme here.

In 2013, SU made and won a bowl game over a favored B1G team the season after his departure.

If you ask me, talent at the NFL level is 75-80% on the GM.

For the record, Marrone did not want EJ Manuel and he (Marrone) did relatively well during his two years with the Bills, who were a broken franchise with Russ Brandon calling the shots.

In Jacksonville, he made the playoffs twice in 4 complete seasons at the helm, including a spot in the NFC Champ Game in 2018.

Marrone ain't perfect, but he accomplished a bit more than many here will give him credit for.
