food at the game ideas

not surprising at all.

But the options that were better were also not things that require special cooking and room.

We cant even get a hot dog done correctly in the Dome.

Bills went to a new vendor for the new stadium as well when the other suffered with such poor amenities for years and is also doing such a great job for the Sabres they re-upped that deal.

Miron court is supposed to become like a local food hall soon. I know Varsity is going in there. University approached Tullys but Tullys said no as the school presented them with a deal that made no sense. I was told they are basically trying to bring Marshall street and other local establishments into Miron Court in the future

I'm sure there is some contractual agreement that prevents this, but it would be nice if local vendors had their own setups in the Dome. Like if Dino BBQ had a kiosk with a limited menu of pulled pork sandwiches, brisket, a small handful of sides, etc. It would be incredibly popular.

best thing they could do is take crouse drive and turn it into an open quad and move ticket taking on that side outside the dome. Then put some tents in for cooking and people could go in and out, now that the doors being open doesn't really matter.

Then in a perfect world do the same thing on Foresty drive, but you have to deal with the loss of some parking on that side and the buses.

But really you need to create food options that dont require cooking stuff they struggle to include inside the dome.

Ive long said, blow out the wall of the north side of the Dome, and attach a large indoor food court with new options between the Dome and Heroy. Declutter the concourse. You lose a big chunk of that parking lot admittedly, but i think would be a game changer amenities wise.

I’m not an engineer. Can you just take out an exterior wall without compromising the structure?

I think so. As long as they leave the big columns that support the roof alone.

There are entrance/exits on the north side you can only access via stairs. And it would probably look like hell. Would need a great architect. The biggest problem is imho affecting the egress and parking.

Given basketball is the dominant sport at the dome, I think if they expand again. It makes much more sense to expand on the western side of the dome. If an expansion ever takes place….

If they blew out the west side, elevators are back in play, covered open air on top for nice weather. better access for vendor stuff. Multi level access . All sorts of stuff could be done.

And really, none of it needs to fully connect to the Dome. Just the access portals. the real building could be 20-50 ft away if that helped. It would be no different than the holes they popped in the east side for that new area.

That’s their plan, but the deal they presented Tullys was absolutely foolish and no local business is signing up for it.

Others know more but I’ve told our issues with concessions, food on the quad, tailgating have more to do with the department that runs all of that and is territorial. Everyone protecting their own p&l vs optimizing the experience for the fans and school.

I personally never understood why people want to eat at a place that is open once or twice a week for three hours. Sanitation issues, freshness issues, etc.

And I can go three hours without stuffing my gullet.

Canned libations, however?

I’m all in.

Question coming from place of total ignorance: Could the chancellor tell them to knock it off and play nice or go work somewhere else?

that really has to be the only explanation because I thought the original plan once the roof was done was to bring in better vendors.

You think the food sucks for men's sports? Drop in for a women's bball game, only one concession is open with the same crummy, greasy food and the hot dog rolls are usually stale. Thankfully the 44 is open for the entire season and you don't need a pass to get in. Food there is better if you have the time to wait for it.
