Canvas Network, UC-Irvine and AMC have partnered to offer a free academic course called Society, Science, Survival: Lessons from AMC's Walking Dead. Again, enrollment is free. This course is an example of a MOOC, or massive open online course - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massive_open_online_course. MOOCs are kind of a neat experiment taking place in education right now. As far as I know, this is one of the biggest if not the biggest attempts to marry learning with popular culture via a MOOC format.

Yeah, the buzz on this is that it will be pretty cool. I guess there will be some bonus content (cast interviews and stuff) for people in the course.

Wish I had the time!! Really bad time of the year for this...they should wait until after football and college basketball seasons are done...

I think the plan is that it runs parallel with season 4.
