As Syracuse Has Learned, It Pays to be a Member of the ACC (TNIAAM; Ceva)
The annual 990 financial reports for 2014 show that Syracuse made the right decision five years ago, at least from a monetary standpoint, to join the ACC.
It's hard to believe that Syracuse decided to become a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference almost five years ago. That choice has literally and figuratively paid dividends, amounting to a sizable cash flow over the past few seasons. Syracuse.com's Chris Carlson makes sense of it all in his piece from yesterday afternoon:
According to the 990 financial report for 2014 Fiscal Year, the Orange received $23.9 million from the ACC, the lowest total for the entire conference. Meanwhile, former Big East rival UConn was given $10.6 million from the American Athletic Conference as its highest performer. That's a difference of about $13.3 million.
The next order of business is total television revenue earned by each conference. Last year, the ACC made $217,906,808, an average of $14.5 million for each of the 15 basketball schools. The American only made $19.1 million by comparison, amounting to $1.6 million per school. That, my friends, is a whopping difference of $203,406,808. If that number alone doesn't speak volumes about how valuable being in one of the Power Five conferences, then I don't know what does.

Everything you need to know about the 2017 ESPN 100 (ESPN; Staff)
The Class of 2017 is starting to develop and form an identity as we approach the summer evaluation period.
Every class' reputation is based on the star power at the top. This crop is unique inside the top 10 because of the tremendous positional size up front. Five prospects in the top 10 are centers or power forwards, and each one stands 6-foot-10 or taller, with unique talents and gifts in the game.
Additionally, the best small forwards in the class are loaded with versatility, shot-making ability and terrific size: Michael Porter Jr. (No. 4) has extreme versatility, Kevin Knox (No. 7) is a highly skilled shooter, and Brian Bowen (No. 10) can make plays and score.

'Never put your winter stuff away:' Snow in June forecast for Adirondacks (PS; Canedo)
"We tell people you never put your winter stuff away."
That's what Karen Delaney, owner of High Peaks Cyclery outdoor gear store in the Lake Placid, told the New York Times recently, and this week proves why.
The National Weather Service is forecasting up to 2 inches of snow to fall on mountains that rise higher than 3,000 feet in the Adirondacks during a flurry that could last from Wednesday night into Thursday, the Times reports. That includes Whiteface Mountain, just north of Lake Placid. The National Weather Service is also forecasting snow to hit the Green Mountains in Vermont.
"It's certainly not normal," Curt Stager, professor of natural sciences at Paul Smith's College in the Adirondacks, told the Times. "You don't expect to dress for winter when you're hiking in June."
