"Over the years there's so many different players and so many different personalities and many of them go on to do great things, and our ladies just love the orange men,” said Make-A-Wish CNY President and CEO Diane Kuppermann. Since 1991, the event has raised over one million dollars to help make more than 165 wishes come true. "We've outgrown four venues in town, we have over 750 women here today, actually closer to 800,” said Kuppermann. On Sunday, the scale of the program was hard to miss. As a surprise to the decorated head coach, many of the Make-A-Wish families funded by this event paraded through the luncheon to give their thanks. "It's almost overwhelming, really, to see so many kids who've gone through this and are still here," said Boeheim. "Many of the kids that we've worked with aren't here,” Many of those kids are all grown up now. Daniel Kosick received a wish thanks to this fundraiser 24 years ago. "Events like this, they have a huge impact,” said Kosick. “And it's hard to see visually like what it does, but when you bring in 125 wishes into one room, it shows you this is crazy, this is huge, this is an actual visual representation of what you've done over 25 years." 24 years or one year since their wishes, these "Wish Families" could not be happier to finally get to say thank you. Arizona still likely to add to its 2017 recruiting class (azdesertswarm.com; Sills-Trausch) The news of the week arrived Thursday when four-star prospect Ira Leemade his much-anticipated commitment to Sean Miller and theArizona Wildcats. Lee’s pledge —the fourth of Arizona’s 2017 class — puts the Wildcats atop the college basketball rankings, setting the UA up for a much less hectic spring compared to last year. With Lee now on board, all eyes go toward Lonnie Walker, the stud two-guard out of Reading, Pennsylvania, who visited Tucson on Oct. 7-9 (the weekend before the Red-Blue game). Walker canceled his Kentucky visit which was sort of surprising, but it wouldn't have mattered in the end. He still has a couple of visits left (Villanova and Syracuse) but all signs point toward him being the fifth commitment for Arizona by the early National Signing Day in November. Other Police: Woman was drunk when she drove off the road, crashed into Eastwood home (PS; Maddox) A Syracuse woman driving just two blocks from her home went off the road and crashed into a house, according to the Syracuse Police Department. Ashley Clark, 29, of 501 S. Midler Ave, was charged with driving while intoxicated, imprudent speed, and several other vehicle and traffic charges. Police were called to 272 S. Midler Ave. at 12:54 a.m. Saturday for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a house. When they got there, they saw that a 2005 Mitsubishi convertible had struck the porch. Clark, the driver and owner of the convertible, was still inside the car when authorities got there, police said. Members of the Syracuse Fire Department had to remove debris from the building from the roof of the car before authorities could free her, police said. Police said Clark was driving north on Midler Avenue when her car went off the road, flew into the air, and hit the house. The car had to be towed from the scene due to significant damages, and the house was also heavily damaged, police said. The one-story home belongs to Gordon W. Mohr and Maris DeStephano, according to property records. Police did not note any injuries.
