It's a day to read cards... no more, no less. Beyond a doubt, the stationery and Ecard companies love this day. It encourages you to send cards. They like that. As we did our research, we thought we'd find some history that suggest it is a day for Tarot card readings. It very well could be. But, we found no written evidence to support our theory. What we can tell you, is that its very popular to send and receive cards today. In order to read a card, someone has to send one. So, get the ball rolling and send out some cards today. Chances are, you will get a few back. SU News Who will coach at Duke, UNC, Syracuse and Louisville? (SI; Thamel) The breadth of accomplishments of Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, North Carolina’s Roy Williams, Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim and Louisville’s Rick Pitino are daunting. They are four of the six active Hall of Famers coaching in college basketball, indelible fixtures on sport’s landscape. The four coaches have combined for 143 seasons on the college sideline, 108 of those at their current schools. They are the top four active coaches in wins, combining for nearly 4,000 victories (3960 as of Saturday), 32 Final Fours and 10 national titles. Their careers are also much closer to the end than the beginning, as a combination of age (Pitino is the youngest at 64), NCAA issues and deteriorating health portend a college basketball landscape without its iconic mainstays in the near future. Just how soon is anyone’s guess. But considering the NCAA issues facing Louisville and North Carolina and Krzyzewski’s latest health issues (back surgery led to a month-long absence this season), it’s reasonable to project that none will be coaching five years from now. NCAA issues already expedited Boeheim’s exit, as he “intends” to hand off the program to veteran assistant coach Mike Hopkins after the 2017-18 season. ... Other Funk 'n Waffles will close original cafe this week, expand to Rochester later this year (PS; Tulloch) Syracuse's longtime waffle cafe has several funky changes on the horizon. Funk 'n Waffles owner Adam Gold will open the brand's third location at the Water Street Music Hall in Rochester this year. It's a huge move, coming on the heels of an announcement to close the original Funk 'n Waffles on The Hill this week, located in the alley behind Marshall Street near Syracuse University. For a decade, it was a popular hangout for SU students, faculty and staffers. Gold said the two changes are unrelated but the timing is incredible. "Funk 'n Waffles 1 closes Wednesday night and on Thursday morning, we pack everything up and move to Rochester," said Gold. "That's it. That [first location] was 10 years of my life. It's a lot to handle all at once, but I love what I do. Every day I go in and see people eating these hilarious waffles...it's just unreal." The second Funk location, which opened in downtown Syracuse in 2014, will not be affected by either change. ...
