Welcome to Panic Day!
Try to stay calm. Take a deep breath. For today is Panic Day. Can you handle today? Good, we were worried for a moment.
Hopefully, everything is going just swell in your life, and you have no need for this day. But, if problems and troubles are looming, try to hold off hitting the panic button until this day arrives.
Don't worry. Don't fret. and, above all, don't panic. However, if ever there was a day to panic, today is that day.
As you get through this unsettling day, you have another day to worry about....International Panic Day.

2017 ACC Tournament: Five takeaways from Miami’s 62-57 win over Syracuse (mypalmbeachpost.com; Porter)
The Hurricanes opened the ACC Tournament with a bang, snatching a 62-57 win over Syracuse as the underdog in a noontime Wednesday 8-vs.-9 matchup at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The Hurricanes (21-10), who like Syracuse (18-14) went 10-8 in regular-season conference play, meet top-seeded and sixth-ranked North Carolina at noon Thursday. That game, a rematch of Miami’s 77-62 win in Coral Gables over the ninth-ranked Tar Heels on Jan. 28, could help boost UM even higher come Selection Sunday.
Five takeaways:
Hot start, shaky close: Miami won this game based on its first 20, not last 20. The Hurricanes shot 62 percent from the floor in the first half, its best first half of shooting this season, and made 6-of-11 threes (55 percent). Nearly half of Miami’s 21 field goal attempts were from the outside.
But Syracuse went on a 13-4 run to start the second half and briefly took the lead, thanks in part to Miami’s 2-of-12 shooting start.
Coach Jim Larranaga said on ACC Network after that Cuse’s defense wouldn’t let Miami get the ball to the paint, “but D.J. Vasiljevic has great range, and we threw it to him and he made the threes.”

Ed Hardin: With Syracuse's classless exit, what's next in Brooklyn? (Video) (greensboro.com; Hardin)
Start spreading the news. There are tickets to be had at the ACC tournament.
Syracuse and its mouthy coach are gone, the host school having exited on the very day it arrived at a party thrown just for the Orange.
Now whose tournament is it?
The Virginians arrived tonight, and Carolina comes to Brooklyn on Thursday. The ACC’s first venture across the Mason-Dixon line has lost its target audience. Once again, it’s up the original members to save the day.
Duke, the region’s adopted school, walked its own thin line before limping past Clemson 79-72 to set up Thursday's first big-time clash between major powers. Louisville has its own legion of fans here this week, and the Cardinals have the reserves to take over Barclays Arena if they make it to the weekend.
The subways were filled today with fans making their way to the second day of the 64th ACC tournament. Duke fans mingled with Clemson fans, and Syracuse fans dressed in orange came fashionably late. In fact, some of them didn’t show at all.
The ACC needed Syracuse this week. Deep down, we know they’d let everyone down and then whine about it afterward.
So now what are we going to do? We’ve come all this way to appease Jim Boeheim and the alleged Syracuse Nation, and now it’s gone, losing yet another ACC tournament game to continue its winless and pointless legacy in a league it joined as an interloper in 2011.

Bubble burst? Syracuse basketball loses to Miami 62-57 (Brent Axe recap) (PS; Axe)
Anyone know the way to Dayton? Because it feels like that is where the Syracuse University basketball team will end up after losing to Miami 62-57 in the ACC Tournament.
Dayton. The First Four. Otherwise known as the 'play-in' game. Otherwise known as 'not quite the NCAA Tournament though they try to sell you that its the NCAA Tournament.'
Otherwise known as 'not the NIT,' which is a fate no one involved wants.
The Orange's resume makes for great fodder in a debate class.
If you argue for Syracuse's inclusion into the 2017 NCAA Tournament field, then 10 is your favorite number. You will point to the Orange's Top 10 wins (Duke, Florida State and Virginia) and their 10 ACC wins.
If you argue against Syracuse's inclusion in the 2017 NCAA Tournament field, then you will point at a map anywhere outside of Onondaga County and say 'you failed here' with the Orange's 2-11 record at road/neutral sites and a lack of quality non-conference wins. The stink from that 33-point loss to St. John's and losses to UConn and Boston College hasn't quite washed off either.
But is this an NIT team? I don't think so. Syracuse found a Wonka bar with a golden ticket all the way to the Final Four on Selection Sunday last year. The Orange proved they could win if would just let them join the party.
We'll all wait for Sunday to see if that invite to the Big Dance comes.
