National Pig Day honors the domesticated pig. According to Mary Lynne Rave, who started National Pig Day with her sister Ellen Stanley in 1972, the purpose of the day is "to accord to the pig its rightful, though generally unrecognized, place as one of man's most intellectual and domesticated animals." Events where pigs are the focus are held at zoos, schools, farms, sporting events, and nursing homes across the United States, particularly in the Midwest. Some activities include having pig-themed parties where pink colored punch and pork are served, and pink ribbon pigtails are tied around trees. Pig-themed parades also are common. Some have interpreted the day as being a time to give pigs a break by not eating pork products, but others say it is the perfect day for eating bacon, ham, or pork chops.

Boston College's backcourt is already tough enough to stop. When they're all hitting shots, they're even harder to beat.
Jerome Robinson, Ky Bowman and Jordan Chatman combined for 13 3-pointers, and the Eagles came away with an 85-70 victory over Syracuse on Wednesday night at Conte Forum.
Bowman led the way with 23 points, Robinson had 22 and Chatman had 18 as BC (17-13, 7-10 ACC) snapped a three-game losing streak in its home finale.
Syracuse (18-12, 7-10 ACC) seemed to have gained momentum midway through the second half after a Tyus Battle and-one, but the Eagles answered. On the next play, Nik Popovic and Bowman beat the Orange down the floor, and the 6-foot-11 big man delivered a behind-the-back pass to Bowman for the layup.
That reignited BC, which went on an 11-3 run to take back firm control. Chatman's fifth triple of the night made it a 15-point game, and Robinson gave the Eagles a 17-point lead, their largest of the night, with 6:13 to go.

When Boston College’s heralded backcourt of Jerome Robinson and Ky Bowman are scoring at will, the Eagles are hard to beat.
But when Jordan Chatman gets in the mix, the task almost becomes impossible.
Syracuse’s 2-3 zone affords its opponents the opportunities, and BC’s shooters were licking their chops. The trio combined for 13 3-pointers and the Eagles were never really threatened as they pulled away from the Orange, 85-70, last night at Conte Forum.
Bowman scored 23 points, Robinson had 22 and Chatman added 18 as BC (17-13, 7-10 ACC) snapped a three-game losing streak and bounced back from its collapse at Miami on Saturday. They did it by cutting through the Orange’s zone at will, finding open shooters, and most importantly, knocking the shots down.

Ky Bowman scored 23 points, Jerome Robinson had 22 and the Eagles snapped a three-game losing streak by dealing Syracuse's NCAA tournament hopes a serious blow with an 85-70 victory on Wednesday night.
It wasn't surprising the duo put up another solid game. They entered averaging a combined 37.1 points per game. It was the added scoring of Jordan Chatman that made it tough on Syracuse.
Chatman had 18 points for the Eagles (17-13, 7-10 Atlantic Coast Conference). BC went 14 of 27 on 3-point attempts.

The [Insert Name Here] Amphitheater: Still no deal on naming rights at Lakeview (PS; Baker)
As Lakeview Amphitheater gears up for its third full season of summer concerts, its operators still haven't secured a deal to sell naming rights on the venue.
Since the amphitheater opened in 2015, Onondaga County officials have said they plan to make money by selling the naming rights, like they do with other county facilities (think NBT Bank Stadium). The name of the amphitheater is likely worth hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.
But progress on a deal has been sluggish.
Last year, Onondaga County Legislature Chairman Ryan McMahon said he presented three companies to the county executive's office. Each, he said, had expressed interest in purchasing the naming rights. He did not name the companies.
Last week, he said he hasn't heard any updates since then.
"I'm not sure where the leads I gave [them] panned out," he said.
