Welcome to Administrative Professionals Day!

Administrative Professionals Day®, also known as Secretaries' Day or Admin Day, recognizes the work of secretaries, receptionists, administrative assistants, and other administrative support professionals. Employers and supervisors organize events for these workers on the day, and workers are often given cards, flowers, chocolate, and lunches. In the United States, the day takes place during Administrative Professionals Week, which occurs during the last full week of April. The holiday is celebrated in work environments around the world.

Syracuse Basketball: Despite a year of inconsistency, the Cardiac ‘Cuse prevailed (itlh.com; Weisleder)

Syracuse Basketball lost Tyler Lydon, Darius Bazley, and potentially Tyus Battle in a year. Despite their inconsistency, ‘Cuse once again prevailed.

Last season, following Syracuse Basketball’s unprecedented 2016 Final Four run, in which the Cardiac ‘Cuse took down Domantas Sabonis’s Gonzaga Bulldogs, and Malcolm Brogdon’s No. 1 seed Virginia Cavaliers in the Elite Eight, the Orange failed to make the NCAA Tournament.

Tyler Lydon’s departure:
10 days later, Syracuse sophomore Tyler Lydon, who averaged more than 13 points and nine rebounds in a tough Atlantic Coast Conference, decided to declare for the 2017 NBA Draft.

Despite receiving tons of verbal backlash from Syracuse fans, and college basketball analysts across the country, Lydon continued to treasure the memories he made in Orange, and never had something negative to say about the program.

Policelli, a left-hander whose shooting stroke, size and athleticism attracted the interest of college basketball programs, visited Dayton the weekend of April 14, his dad, Frank, said. A Central New York storm prevented Frank Policelli from accompanying his son on the trip, but a LuHi coach went with him. The family talked Sunday night about Frankie's choices and Frankie chose Dayton on Monday.

Orange Watch: Roster adjustments will continue for Syracuse basketball - The Juice Online (the juice; Bierman)

Item: With four major off season announcements already setting off various repercussions; Matthew Moyer transferring to Vanderbilt, Cincinnati-area scholastic star Darius Bazley jumping from SU high school recruit to the NBA’s G-League developmental ranks, Oshae Brissett returning for his sophomore season, and Tyus Battle now deciding to get a feel of when he will be selected in the upcoming draft (June 21 at Barclays Center, Brooklyn) by entering his name without signing with an agent, we can expect more developments before the 2018-19 Syracuse basketball roster takes shape.

The next date to keep in mind for Orange Nation, in regards to whether or not the 2018 Sweet 16 starting five will return intact for the upcoming season, is at the end of this week. On Friday, invitations are extended to the NBA Draft Combine to be held May 16-20 in Chicago, commencing a day after the Draft Lottery is held in the same city this season.

In May, besides the combine itself held at Chicago’s Quest Multisport training facility (67 players were invited last year), prospects who have not signed with an agent can work out for teams while continuing their own conditioning programs, and most importantly have until 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday May 30 to withdraw their name from the ’18 draft to return to NCAA play.

Coaches' keys to the game for NCAA's college basketball reform (greensboro.com; Wilkerson)

Talk to 10 different coaches, Wes Miller says, and you’ll get 10 different recommendations on how to clean up college basketball, starting with recruiting and the AAU circuit, all the way through dealing with agents on campus.

“I don’t think they can ever come up with any system that will please everybody,” says Miller, who will begin his eighth season as the UNC-Greensboro coach in November.

The Commission on College Basketball, better known as the Rice Commission, will attempt to do just that at 8 a.m. EDT Wednesday when it releases recommendations from its 15-member committee on how to create more productive relationships at all levels, from grassroots through the NBA and in dealing with outside entities such as shoe companies and agents.
