2018 NBA Draft: LiAngelo Ball, Tyus Battle Among Latest Prospects Participating In Lakers Pre-Draft Workout (lakersnation.com; Moreno)

The Los Angeles Lakers are welcoming their next wave of six prospects to UCLA Health Training Center for a pre-draft workout, with LiAngelo Ball undeniably the headliner. Not necessarily because of Ball’s draft projections but his relation to Lonzo Ball.

That LiAngelo was invited by the Lakers for a pre-draft workout figures to add more fodder for LaVar Ball and his prediction that each of his sons would play for the franchise.

Ball will be joined in the workout by former UCLA teammate Thomas Welsh, St. Bonaventure guard Jaylen Adams, Virginia guard Devon Hall, Syracuse guard Tyus Battle and Arizona center Dusan Ristic.

In terms of draft stock, Hall and Battle are the names to watch. Prospect rankings have both within the top 50 for the 2018 NBA Draft, which leaves them as viable options for the Lakers, who hold the Nos. 25 and 47 overall selections.

NC State hasn’t won a major ACC title in 26 years. Impressive! (sbnation.com; Moriarty)

The NC State Wolfpack’s last chance for an ACC title for the 2017-18 season was in the hands of the baseball team over the weekend against the Florida State Seminoles. Unfortunately the team lost, 5-2, on Friday, eliminating them from the ACC tournament and costing them a shot at an ACC title the program hasn’t won since 1992.

Shortly after the loss, a UNC fan tweeted out an eye-opening statistic about NC State’s rough recent history in claiming ACC titles, including regular-season or title tournament ones:

It's official: for the 26th consecutive year, NC State has failed to win so much as a share of a division title, regular season ACC title, or ACC tournament title in football, men's & women's basketball, and baseball. One of the most amazing streaks in college sports.
— Alston Meadows (@damedsz) May 26, 2018

Joe Giglio of the News & Observer further investigated and laid out Meadows’ tweet, and he’s right — everyone currently in the ACC (including former Big East members like Boston College, Louisville, Miami, and Syracuse) has either won an ACC title or a share of one. We double checked a good bit of numbers below:

Syracuse's first glitter beer? It sparkles and packs a roller derby punch (PS; Cazentre)

Think of roller derby, and you might think of fast action, along with bumps and bruises.

Now you can also think of glitter in your beer.

Syracuse's first entry into the world of glitter beer comes courtesy of Stout Beard Brewing Co., in partnership with Assault City Roller Derby. This version is a limited-quantity cranberry-orange beer soured with sumac berries, with a dose of edible glitter added to the glass, said Stout Beard brewer and co-owner Mike LeRoy. It's 6 percent alcohol.

Glitter beer: A hot trend that's mostly cold in Upstate NY
But at least one Upstate brewery, Sato Brewpub in Buffalo, is launching glitter beer this week.

The beer, called Cranberry Jammer, made its debut Saturday during the roller derby squad's "after party" at the Pale & Bucket Pub on Onondaga Boulevard. The team had a bout earlier Saturday.

It will be available this week at Stout Beard's tasting room at 126 Dell St., in the Westcott Street business district. The tap room is open 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Stout Beard only made one barrel (31 gallons), split among six 1/6-barrel kegs (sixtels). Only one sixtel will be available this week, so it may not last the weekend.
