Welcome to Wrong Way Corrigan Day!

Wrong Way Corrigan Day commemorates the day in 1938 when Douglas Corrigan made a transatlantic flight. He had recently purchased a 1929 Curtiss Robin plane and rebuilt and modified it. In July of 1938, he flew it from California to New York. He then applied for permission to make a transatlantic flight but was denied. On July 17, 1938, he flew out of Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York, with the supposed intention of flying back to California. He instead started heading east and flew all the way to Dublin, Ireland. As he disembarked from the plane he said, "Just got in from New York. Where am I?" He claimed his flight had been an accident and he had gotten lost after his compass failed to work. His pilot's license was suspended but was soon reinstated. He became a celebrity and gained the name Wrong Way Corrigan. Until his death in 1995, he maintained that his transatlantic flight had been done on accident. In 1987, in Long Island, he was honored on the 49th anniversary of his flight. Beginning in 1992, his hometown of Galveston, Texas, began celebrating Wrong Way Corrigan Day. Corrigan has since been celebrated across the country on Wrong Way Corrigan Day.

A year from launch, ACC Network could set sail in choppy media waters :: WRALSportsFan.com (wralsports.com; Ovies)

Dean Jordan is the ACC's media rights guru. An executive at Wasserman Media Group, Jordan was instrumental in helping commissioner John Swofford make the ACC Network happen with ESPN. Two years after the channel's announcement and one year out from its debut, he feels strongly the value in televised Power 5 sports.
"Sports is what drives a lot of this stuff, it's the only program you have to watch live," Jordan explained to 99.9FM The Fan. "Just look at the advertising numbers…there's so many ways you can sell it and generate revenue."
Jordan pointed out OTT services, such as Sling TV and YouTube TV, didn't really take off as an alternative to the traditional bundle until they started adding sports programming. Because it brings eyeballs, Jordan doesn't see the sports rights bubble for major properties popping any time soon.

"We've heard [about the bubble] for years and years, and it never happened," Jordan said. "It kind of happened around 1994 or 1995, but it lasted six months, and it was back to rights fees going up."
For the ACC's sake, it better keep going up.

Boeheim's Army adds a new player: He's a guy GM Kevin Belbey has coveted (PS; Ditota)

Over the years, Kevin Belbey has kept two big men on his perennial list of potential Boeheim's Army centers:

Arinze Onuaku and Rakeem Christmas.

This summer, he's getting one of those wishes.

Onuaku has agreed to play for Boeheim's Army.

"Game changer," Belbey said today at Melo Center, where the Army was working out.

Onuaku, the 6-foot-9 center, has finished his season in the Philippines, perhaps a bit earlier than he anticipated. His team just lost in the playoffs. He and Belbey have been communicating about his open invitation to Syracuse's The Basketball Tournament squad. And last week, the two had a pivotal conversation.

"He reached out to me and said, 'So, you got a jersey for me?'" Belbey said.

Skaneateles zombie mansion resurrected, for sale after $400K remodel (photos, video) (PS)

From near-demolition: Restoring the 'zombie' mansion to a showcase property

The home, built in 2005 by Bill and Linda Adams, was designed to be the model home for The Enclave, the first Central New York subdivision where homes were going to cost $1 million or more.
Bu the 2008-09 financial crisis led to the end of that plan, and the family moved out, leaving the five-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath mansion on 24 acres vacant and abandoned.
In 2017, it was on the verge on being demolished by the town of Skaneateles when it was sold. Now the new owners have "flipped" the property, totally remodeling and transforming the property to the tune of an estimated $400,000.
The abandoned mansion at 1819 Cherry Valley Turnpike - once worth $1.1 million - sold for $301,676 to Stage Two Properties LLC and CNY Home Rentals. The renovation work was done by Zerodraft, which does home energy work as well as property renovations.
Assessed at $751,000, the home was being marketed by Procopio Real Estate for $231,300.
Now the home is on the market for $895,000.

Zombie mansion before

Graffiti was scribbled on the walls of what was known as the "zombie mansion" before its recent transformation by Zerodraft.
Area teens held parties in the abandoned mansion. It was vandalized - appliances torn out of the kitchen, glass broken and left all over the floor, wood trim burned and a staircase banister torn out.
Now it gleams, a jewel on the top of a hill with new, polished hardwood floors, state-of-the-art appliances and quartz countertops.

Boy, how about Arinze making 10-15 foot shots. Granted, I didn't see much in the way of competition from the other team in those highlights. His presence certainly won't hurt us.
