The night started out with teh two teams trading punches to get to an 8-8 tie, before Nick Perkins anchored a 17-0 UB run and eventually grew their lead to 19 points before the SIU defensive zone started to throw off the Bulls offense while the Salukis’ offense slowly chipped away at the lead. Before the half was over SIU climbed back to withing two scores, 33-28. Another big run in the second helped UB to grow that five point lead up to twenty, before once again SIU chipped away while UB’s offense went cold. Leading 59-39 with 10:26 left Buffalo went more than seven minutes without a field goal. SIU was not lighting up the board either but slowly they worked their way back to within single digits, and then back to within 7 at the 4:18 mark. UB has two huge games coming up. We have to just be ready to play,” Battle said. When Syracuse (7-3) takes on Buffalo (10-0) Tuesday night, the Orange will do so with three nonconference losses already, a total they’ve never reached the NCAA Tournament with. It’s a completely different atmosphere inside the Dome during the annual couple of games on the Syracuse basketball schedule that occur during the Fall/Spring Semester break. Wake up the ghosts! Chris Herren Jr. had 22 points. He’s not expected to be anywhere near the player his dad was but given his dad’s history and struggles, he’s probably glad his son is just healthy and playing. Ky Bowman shot just 4-17 so it was a good night for Herren to go off. It was also good because Jordan Chatman is out with an ankle injury and forward Steffon Mitchell has a leg injury as well. Not surprisingly, BC got nothing from the bench. Well it got two rebounds and one assist but that’s it. Depth may be an issue for BC all season. Syracuse’s loss to Old Dominion, historically a very minor player in the college basketball world, has not gone over well. Well at least not in Syracuse. The Tuba Christmas was created by Harvey Phillips in 1974. Today, Tuba Christmas concerts are presented in over 290 cities throughout the United States. This year’s concert was conducted by Michael Coldren and included musicians from all over Central New York. A photographer from Syracuse.com was fortunate to get a behind the scenes look at the rehearsal before the concert. Included in the group of tuba players was Paul Sherman of Fulton who sat front stage left, looking every bit as Saint Nick himself. Tuba Christmas is a music concert held in cities worldwide that celebrates those who play, teach, and compose music for instruments in the tuba family, including the tuba, sousaphone, baritone, and euphonium, though some participants bring rarer members of the family such as the helicon, ophicleide, serpent and double bell euphonium. The first Tuba Christmas was organized by Harvey G.
