The march was first performed on May 14, 1897, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on the occasion of the unveiling of a statue of George Washington. The latest list has the Orange falling from 27 to the 30th best recruiting class in the nation, according to 247sports.com. That puts SU sixth among ACC teams. This deep class of five players has plenty of unknown about them. The biggest mover in the latest 247sports rankings was the latest addition, center Jesse Edwards, he skyrocketed to the third highest rated player in the class. Everyone looks good in their highlight tapes (never show the misses), but each time I see Jesse Edwards I become more intrigued. https://t.co/fkE9LXuScs — Mike Waters (@MikeWatersSYR) May 7, 2019 Final Player Rankings *247 Sports* Brycen Goodine SG – #91 Grade: 96.12 Quincy Guerrier SF – #115 Grade: 93.68 Jesse Edwards C – #170 Grade: 90.33 Joe Girard G – #188 Grade: 89.52 John Bol Ajak C – #452 Grade: 85.35 That climb from Edwards is very positive. As of his commitment back in early April, he wasn’t ranked on 247sports (mostly because he just came on the scene late and was unknown). Now that he’s known though, he’s jumped all the way into the 90’s grade wise. Obviously, the Netherlands center is still a bit of a project at this point. Not saying 170 is anything remarkable, but you’d think it would warrant minutes next year and given development (a big if with SU centers of late) potentially some starter minutes as an upperclassmen. ... Here are all the details and what’s next. The former Syracuse basketball star Tyus Battle sure knows how to make an impact. He did it throughout his entire SU career and he continued that at the NBA G-League Elite Camp. While he wasn’t invited to the NBA Combine in 2019, he didn’t let that deter his positive attitude. Battle signed with Roc Nation Sports (a company owned and operated by Jay Z). The camp runs from May 12th through the 14th at Quest Multisport in Chicago. Here is what the experts are saying. We still don’t know if Oshae Brissett is going to return to the Syracuse basketball squad next season. Although if we were doing updated educated guesses right now, it doesn’t look good. Currently, Brissett is participating in the G-League Elite Camp. It’s the first year the camp is allowing collegiate athletes to participate and strut their stuff in front of all 30 NBA teams. ... Most recently, Walters spent the 2018-19 season as Special Assistant to the Head Coach at Nevada: Eric Musselman. Prior to that, though, Walters spent two seasons in professional basketball: Grand Rapids Drive (G League, 2016-17) and the Detroit Pistons (2017-18) as an assistant for Stan Van Gundy. Walters also has 10 seasons of head coaching experience on the collegiate level, too: Florida Atlantic (2006-08) and San Francisco (2008-16). His 2013-14 team at San Francisco won 21 games and ranked 51st nationally in adjusted offensive efficiency, per KenPom. Insider Report - The Clemson Insider Forums (theclemsoninsider.com; Vandervort) for gbo It is time for this week’s edition of The Insider Report. We hope everyone had a great weekend and a great Mother's Day. ACC Network is all the talk at spring meetings The Clemson Insider is in Amelia Island, Florida this week covering the ACC Spring Meetings from the Ritz-Carlton. Of course, the big talk this week centers around the launch of the ACC Network which is set to begin in August. ESPN has a big presence here this week as they have flown in all of the big wigs at the network as well as some of the television personalities you will see on the ACC Network this coming fall. We spoke with former Clemson offensive lineman Eric Mac Lain on Monday. He is excited to start his new job as in-studio analyst for the network. The network will fly Mac Lain up to Bristol from Charlotte every Thursday for his studio work and then back home on Sundays. Clemson women’s basketball coach Amanda Butler says the women’s head coaches are excited about the new network because it gives them even more exposure than they ever had. She says its going to help with recruiting and will give her sport and conference even more exposure. As for Clemson’s participation in the network, the athletic department has put in a lot of money and time to make sure Clemson is a full partner and can do all the broadcast needs that are associated with the ACC Network. A number of sports and their broadcasts will come right out of the Jervey Athletic Center. “We are in a great position from an equipment perspective and from a technical perspective,” Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich said. “We are ready to go and just feed that into the ACC Network.” ACC is still trying to sell the network ESPN’s ACC Network has already landed with DirecTV, Hulu and PlayStation Vue as cable and media stream servers to watch its network, but the network still has not landed with some of the big cable providers such as Charter, Comcast and Spectrum. The league is hoping to be on those cable providers’ programming by August, but right now they are not. The ACC Network is scheduled to launch on Aug. 19. The Georgia Tech at Clemson game will be the first live event on the network on Aug. 29 to kick off the season. For the record Comcast is the cable provider for the city of Clemson. ... Matott said she’s been attending graduate school for a year, and plans to become a math teacher once she receives her certification. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” she said. "I love educating young people about STEM fields, and igniting passion for math and science." Matott graduated from Liverpool High in 2011. She earned her meteorology degree in 2015 at Oswego, where she was the chief meteorologist for the college’s TV station. She was hired by CNY Central a month before graduation, and commuted from Oswego to Syracuse on weekends, according to CNY Central’s website. ...
