Welcome to National Prime Rib Day!

National Prime Rib Day annually recognizes this special meal favorite on April 27th each year. Sometimes known as the “King of Meats,” Prime Rib is a choice cut from one of the eight prime cuts of beef.

A rubbed-on seasoned and then slow-roasted prime rib will give you a deliciously tender, tasty main course. Find many recipes and helpful “how to cook prime rib” guides on the internet for all to use. Some of the most common seasons used include garlic, salt, pepper, rosemary, onion, oregano, and thyme.

Depending on your preference, you might choose to serve your prime rib with fresh vegetables such as asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, or Brussel sprouts. A variety of potatoes complement prime rib, too. Whether you like mashed, baked, or roasted potatoes, they will pair well with this hearty meal. Add a light salad or pasta dish, too. Don’t forget to serve your favorite wine or beer. Your guests will appreciate it.

Syracuse basketball: Zion Cruz transfer to Oak Hill can benefit Orange (itlh; Adler)

Syracuse basketball target Zion Cruz, a top-25 prospect in the 2022 class, is transferring to mighty high school program Oak Hill Academy.

Zion Cruz, a high-priority target for Syracuse basketball in the class of 2022 recruiting cycle, will play his final two years of ball for powerhouse Oak Hill Academy. A Twitter page called #TheRealSources first reported the news, which Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog verified, and Cruz shared on Instagram.

Most notably for Orange fanatics, Cruz, listed as either four or five stars depending on the recruiting service, is heading to an Oak Hill crew that also recently landed the services of five-star point guard and ‘Cuse commit Dior Johnson.

Johnson, universally regarded as a top-15 player in the 2022 class and viewed as the No. 1 point guard across the country by some recruiting Web sites, told various media outlets when he committed to the Orange back in early February that he plans to bring more elite recruits with him to the Hill.

Past relationships lead Syracuse transfer Brendan Paul to sign with Division 2 Fairmont State )timeswv.com; Smith)

With two seasons of experience in the Atlantic Coast Conference as a walk-on at Syracuse and an impressive performance last summer in the Cleveland Am-Pro, there was no shortage of Division 1 schools that came calling when sophomore Brendan Paul entered the college basketball transfer portal.

He admits he had every intention of staying at the D1 level when he made the decision to leave the program. Yet, last Sunday, Paul announced he was committing to Fairmont State, choosing the D2 level and the Mountain East Conference over interest from numerous mid-majors in the Mid-American Conference and Horizon League.

So, what led to the change in heart for Paul, and to a small state-funded school in North Central West Virginia landing a two-star guard that otherwise might now be on the roster for Kent State or Cleveland State?

“I’m a firm believer in connections and building relationships. I think relationships, communications, and that type of thing are a lot bigger than people think,” Paul said.

Time to start something new, and trust the magic of new beginnings. @CoachTimKoenig now let’s go get what we’ve talked about.

— Brendan Paul (@brendvnpaul) April 19, 2020

It starts with where he grew up — Shaker Heights, Ohio. As a child, the first connection emerged, as he played various sports with current Fairmont State standout Dale Bonner, and the two forged a friendship that has remained to this day. He attended Hawken School, another slight connection to his new home — Hawken is a rival of current Fairmont State head coach Tim Koenig’s alma mater, University School.

Could former Syracuse stars Richardson, Lydon put Boeheim's Army over the top? - The Juice Online (the juice; podcast; Cheng)

Boeheim’s Army General Manager Kevin Belbey calls in to talk about the 2020 TBT with host Wes Cheng on The Juice on the Cuse podcast hosted by SNY.tv. TJO editor in chief Brad Bierman then calls in to chat about the 2020 NFL Draft.

SNY.tv Syracuse Podcasts · The Juice on the Cuse 4-27-20: With Boeheim’s Army General Manager Kevin Belby

Here are the highlights from the show:

Wesley Cheng: Malachi Richardson. Tyler Lydon. Huge additions to the team. Both members of that 2016 Final Four team. Both guys were first round NBA Draft picks. Both have NBA experience. I just think these are two huge gets for Boeheim’s Army.

Kevin Belbey: It’s so important to have young, fresh legs in this tournament. Those guys are going to bring new dimensions to this team. We’ve never had a guy like Tyler Lydon, who can play inside and outside. He can rebound. He can score. He might be the best shooter on our team, and maybe in the tournament. He’s lethal from downtown. Malachi won an NBA Championship last year. He got a ring for being part of the 2019 Raptors team early on. He’s young. He’s hungry. Both of those guys are NBA level players. They’re guys who should not be on our team. They belong in the NBA. We’re really lucky to have them for the summer.

Wake Forest fires coach Danny Manning after losing stretch (theoaklandpress.com; Beard)

Danny Manning never built a winner at Wake Forest. Now the school is looking for a new coach and direction.

Wake Forest fired Manning on Saturday after losing seasons in five of his six years with one NCAA Tournament appearance. The move came more than six weeks after the Demon Deacons lost to Pittsburgh in the opening game of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament, ending the season shortly before the coronavirus pandemic led to a shutdown of college and professional sports.

The decision came after what athletic director John Currie called an "overall evaluation” of a program with two winning seasons in the past decade going back to the days of Jeff Bzdelik.

Above the empty streets of Syracuse during coronavirus pandemic (PS; video)

A month has passed since New York state went into a shutdown as inhabitants sought shelter from the deadly coronavirus pandemic. Rush-hour snarls are non-existent, parking lots are empty and NBT Bank Stadium was abandoned on opening day. These are the empty streets of greater Syracuse, yearning for its residents to swell back in health and vigor.
