Welcome to International Coffee Day!
International Coffee Day is a day that celebrates coffee's journey from the farm to your local shop, and the day is an opportunity to honor the men and women who grow and harvest coffee for the whole world. It was started by the International Coffee Organization (ICO) in 2015. As of 2017 the ICO consisted of 77 member states, and it is the main intergovernmental organization for coffee. The member governments represent 98% of the world's coffee production, and 83% of the world's coffee consumption. The celebration grew from 70 official events in 35 countries in its first year, to 130 events in 54 countries in its second year.
And what is this drink that the whole world seems to value? Coffee, of course! Coffee is a drink made from the roasted and ground beans of the coffee plant. Coffee beans originated in Ethiopia, and arabica beans are the main species, which now are grown throughout the "coffee belt", an area between the latitudes of 25 degrees North and 30 degrees South. Seventy-five percent of the world's coffee bean production is arabica. Most of the other coffee beans are robusta beans, or "Congo coffee" beans, which are more robust.

Recruiting service 247Sports has unveiled its top 50 for the 2023 class, and Syracuse basketball target Elijah Fisher is right near the top.
Syracuse basketball 2023 target Elijah Fisher put forth a phenomenal freshman campaign playing high-school ball in Canada, and now he’s soared to top-five status within his recruiting cycle.
Recruiting service 247Sports has published its initial top-50 prospects in the class of 2023, and the 6-foot-7 wing is placed at No. 3 overall as well as the No. 1 shooting guard.
Fisher, a sophomore who attends Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto, Ontario, is also one of eight guys in this class who are rated as five stars by 247Sports. Naturally, he is the No. 1 prospect in Ontario.

You Tube Gold: Watching Last Year’s Duke Win Over UNC With Some UNC Fans DBR; King)
We’ve all - and by we we mean Duke fans because UNC fans probably aren’t nearly as interested - seen last year’s insane win over UNC in the Dean Dome tons of times. We’ve made it a You Tube Gold at least twice and maybe three times.
Well, are you tired of it? We’re not. We could watch it every day.
However, this is a different way of watching it: some UNC students (we assume) taped themselves watching the last 1:50 of overtime.
It’s fun to see Wendell Moore slip the shiv in after Tre Jones’ miraculous play to put the game in overtime but what’s really clear from this video, aside from the agony of the UNC fans, is just how crucial he was in overtime. He got a layup, pressured the ball on the inbounds, tipped Jones’s last foul shot back out then ran back in to tip the ball in at the buzzer.

D'Marco Dunn commits, UNC basketball adds 2nd 4-star to 2021 class - ACCSports.com (accsports.com; Geisinger)
D’Marco Dunn will head to North Carolina.
247 Sports ranks the 6-foot-4 Dunn as the No. 19 shooting guard in the 2021 recruiting class and one of the top three players in the state of North Carolina. The lack of an AAU season Hurt done in the service’s overall rankings. This is still a substantial addition for North Carolina.
Dunn, a 4-star shooting guard from Fayetteville (NC) Westover, committed to UNC over a host of power programs: Louisville, Arizona, Texas, Clemson, Georgia and Vanderbilt.

In the end, though, Roy Williams and the Heels won out over Vanderbilt and former Tar Heel forward Jerry Stackhouse, now in his second season as the program’s head coach.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Dunn becomes the second commit in North Carolina’s 2021 recruiting class; back in April, 4-star forward Dontrez Styles, from Kinston, committed to UNC over NC State, Clemson, Maryland and Pittsburgh.
An afternoon decision for Top-75 senior D’Marco Dunn. Will choose from Arizona, North Carolina, Texas, Louisville, Clemson, Georgia, and Vanderbilt.
One program is getting not only a talented scorer but a winner. Averaged 20.3 points per game last year in route to a 30-0 season.

HS football players bemoan recruiting cost of lost fall season: ‘We’re all kind of stunned’ (PS; $; Kramer)
Given the nature of his chosen position, Liverpool senior offensive lineman Ryan Saffioti knows he’s not going to draw a lot of outside attention.
“They never look at the linemen for the highlights,” he said.
Further complicating the matter is that Saffioti goes a very modest 6-foot, 250 pounds. Under the best of circumstances, that would make drawing enough recruiting attention to make his dream of playing in college come true a heavy lift.
And for high school athletes, the past several months have been a long haul away from the ideal scenario.
The coronavirus canceled spring seasons across the country and is playing havoc with fall sports. In New York state, moderate-risk sports such as soccer and field hockey are now permitted while high-risk activities such as football have been pushed to March 1.
One of the many implications of that decision is the elimination of a valuable showcase for senior football players who, like Saffioti, want to play at the higher level but needed a fall season to put on video for college coaches. And that complication is compounded because the coronavirus eliminated summer camps, which normally are an invaluable chance for high schoolers to make an in-person impression on recruiters.
“It’s hard to know what’s going to happen. None of us have ever been through anything like this. We’re all kind of stunned, waiting to see what happens,” Saffiotti said.
