Many college students come back to their hometown for Thanksgiving, and go to bars the night before to meet their friends whom they haven't seen while away at school. Many bars mark the occasion by having promotions and drink specials as well. Thanksgiving is usually a low stress holiday for college aged kids, where gifts don't need to be purchased, and older family members do the preparing of meals. This leaves college aged kids with more expendable cash, and the luxury of eating a big meal the day after drinking without having to prepare it. SU News Syracuse University men’s basketball coach Adrian Autry is ready to show fans his new take on the Orange as he embarks on a new era for Syracuse.N. Chris Bell finished his day with a technical foul after bumping into his head coach and only making two shots. And Benny Williams, who didn’t play a single second after having impact minutes against No. 7 Tennessee the game before, seemed dejected as he wore all-blue warm-up clothes on the bench in the SU’s 76-57 defeat against the Bulldogs. If Syracuse (3-2, 0-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) looked to have any chance to beat No. 11 Gonzaga (3-1, 0-0 West Coast Conference), the forwards were going to have to compliment the guard play of Judah Mintz and J.J. Starling, who finished with 64% of the team’s points. But Bell finished 2-for-18 shooting and missed just one of his 10 3-point attempts, while Williams remained absent on the floor. SU head coach Adrian Autry offered no comment when asked why Williams did not play. Against Tennessee Monday, Williams played in his second game of the season and scored eight points off the bench. Williams missed Syracuse’s second exhibition game and first two regular season games after being given a suspension for a violation of team rules. Williams had some impact even though the Orange lost to Tennessee. On his first shot, Williams nailed a contested jumper to give the Orange a 10-9 lead. One possession later, Williams made a 3-pointer to increase the lead to four points. But during today’s game, Williams remained on the bench wearing blue sweats, watching as his fellow forward struggled to make a dent in the game. ... The development group that is turning the former Moyer carriage factory into loft apartments plans to install lights outlining the house and its windows. Housing Visions is selling sponsorships of the lighting display to raise money for its housing programs, including services that will be offered to tenants of the Moyer Carriage Lofts. Ben Lockwood, president and CEO of Housing Visions, said the lights will be turned on in December in time for the Christmas holiday. They won’t go away after the holiday, however. Lockwood said the plan is to keep them on the house to illuminate the North Side structure year-round. The lighting display will be easily visible to people traveling into the city from Interstate 81, reminiscent of the holiday lighting on Crouse Hospital’s clock tower. “Our goal is to make it permanent,” Lockwood said. “Ideally, we’ll be able to make it various colors and patterns.” The two-story house has intrigued passersby since Harvey Moyer built his carriage factory at North Salina and Wolf streets nearly 130 years ago. Decades-old rumor had it that someone lived in the house, but it actually just housed mechanical equipment for the factory’s elevator. ... Some of the farms also offer a shop where you can purchase gifts. Make sure to check with the farm before heading out in case the hours change or they run out of trees. Did we miss one?
