Can the Crunch Hockey Game at the Carrier Dome Come Close to SU vs Duke? (PS; Kramer)
Long before Howard Dolgon brought the Syracuse Crunch to town 21 years ago, he honed his promotional edge working as a boxing publicist.
His efforts to put on a Crunch game in the Carrier Dome this season have convinced him working he's with another champ — the city of Syracuse itself.
Dolgon is kick-starting a campaign that will raise Syracuse's hand for what he thinks is the best-pound-for-pound sports city in the United States. He wants that theme to be blared on billboards and signs around Syracuse and used in campaigns to bring entertainment events and conventions to town.
Dolgon is creating a logo representing the theme that should be ready for unveiling next week.
Dolgon, a native of Brooklyn, is touting his adopted hometown based on two shows of sporting support.
The first is the crowd of 35,446 that jammed the Carrier Dome for Syracuse University men's basketball game against Duke on Feb. 1. That set an NCAA record for the largest college basketball crowd in an on-campus facility.
