Predictions for SU Orange Team Awards for 2014-15 Season (BR; Neuman!)
Even though the Syracuse basketball team won't play a game that counts until Nov. 14, the start of the season is still less than a month away. The Orange will play their first of two exhibition games on Nov. 2.
There are plenty of reasons for fans to be interested in this year's Syracuse squad. Jim Boeheim has brought in two exciting freshmen and previous role players will be stepping into new, expanded roles. And it's plain hard to determine just how good this team will be because of all of the new pieces in place.
So with just a few weeks until they lace them up, let's get going on our Orange season preview. We'll start by predicting the winners of the Orange's team awards, and we will give honorable mention in each slide to a player or two who just missed the cut or could take the award with an outstanding season.

Flags at the State Tower Building: 'Ups and Downs' Atop the Tallest Building in Downtown Syracuse (PS; Kirst)
The idea was to be there for one of the most familiar - and visible - rituals in Central New York. So we arrived at 8 a.m. on a Monday at the State Tower Building in downtown Syracuse, and we met maintenance workers Kaz Otabara and Jeff Fish in the lobby.
Then we rode an elevator up to the 20th floor, and we followed the two men into the old stairwell that climbs a couple of floors higher, into a place where the classic art deco skyscraper - opened in the late 1920s - doesn't feel or look a whole lot different than it did when it was built to the design of Thompson & Churchill, architects of New York.

The Krebs in Skaneateles: What Fine Dining Should Be (PS; Marmaduke)
If you require pretension and preciousness with your celebrations, then The Krebs is not for you. But if you enjoy superb food expertly prepared in a comfortable, pretty venue, The Krebs will make you happy.
An evening like this doesn't come cheap -- nor should it. From the remarkable expertise and disciplined creativity of the chef to the impeccable training of every member of staff, the quality of the experience is worth its price. With attention to detail that never becomes fussiness for its own sake, Austin Johnson creates dishes that make the best of superior ingredients, often with a surprising touch.
Add to that The Krebs' commitment to donate all net proceeds to women's and children's charities in this area, and the experience becomes even more appealing.
