SU Recruit Malachi Richardson is a Top Prospect with the Help of Parents and a Sweet Jumper (PS; Waters)
Lewis Richardson never gave his son an inch on the basketball court. No gimme buckets. No purposely missed shots. No favors.
"I used to beat him all the time,'' Richardson said. "I'd smack his shot across the street and send him home crying.''
Lewis and his son, Malachi, would play on the blacktop court in the family's backyard. The one that Lewis had put in shortly after the family moved into the two-story house.
"Mali was just a baby,'' Lewis said. "He grew up on that court. We all had the kids in the neighborhood there.''
If young Malachi wasn't shooting at the basket in his backyard, he had ventured across the street to the courts at Shady Brook Park. Malachi and the neighborhood kids. Malachi versus his dad.
