Syracuse vs Michigan Preview (Rantsports.com; Sturm)

The Syracuse Orange and No. 19 Michigan Wolverines have been two extremely similar teams to start the 2014-15 college basketball season. Both currently sit at 5-1, both lost to fairly talented opposition on a neutral court and both have two key players who make or break the team. However, something has to give when these two face off on Tuesday, Dec. 2 in Michigan.

Syracuse relies on the play of Rakeem Christmas and Chris McCullough, but it’s the overall strength of the defense that makes the Orange so dangerous. This team ranks in the top 20 in both blocks and steals, as well as eighth overall in points allowed per game. The Orange’s stout defense allows for this team to make errors.

It probably wasn't Georges-Hunt at his best (there were four turnovers slipped in there, a reflection of a sloppy game for both teams), but it was a demonstration of how vital he is to the Yellow Jackets' prospects. Georgia Tech (5-1) led for the final 25 minutes, with Georges-Hunt involved in much of what Brian Gregory's team did on offense.

If that's going to matter for such a retooled team, Georges-Hunt will be leaned upon to provide a few more outings like Sunday's

Importance, interest of every ACC/Big Ten Challenge game (ESPN)

Syracuse at Michigan, 7:30 p.m., ESPN

Interest: 7
Big programs and big coaches will always merit some attention, but the truth is, though both are good, neither is as good as it has been recently.

Importance: 6
This won't make or break either team, but neither the Orange nor the Wolverines have a whole lot of meat left on the non-conference schedule (Villanova for Syracuse, Arizona for Michigan).
