Time Lapse Video Shows Carrier Dome Transform From Basketball to Hockey (yahoo.com; Leahy)
The Frozen Dome Classic that took place on Nov. 22 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York set the U.S. indoor attendance record for a professional hockey game. The AHL’s Syracuse Crunch beat the Utica Comets in front of 30,715 fans as history was made.
The Crunch took control of the Carrier Dome at 12:01 a.m. ET on Nov. 17, giving the company building the rink less than a week to work with. They managed to finish the job in the tight time-frame and the game went off without a hitch.
This time-lapse video, set to the never boring "Ice Ice Baby," shows the entire process, from the last Syracuse basketball game before the break to the entire rink-building process to the hoops team’s return to the court nine days later.

Fine Print for Golden Snowball Means Syracuse Could Vault Past Buffalo This Week (PS; Coin)
In the race for the snowiest big city in New York, it would seem that the epic lake effect storms in Western New York last month already made Buffalo a shoo-in this season.
Not so fast, Buffalo: Read the fine print.
According to the rules of the Golden Snowball -- and its national brethren, the Golden Snow Globe -- measurements are taken at the official National Weather Station station in each city. For Buffalo, that's the airport. And while areas just a few miles from Buffalo posted staggering figures of 90 inches of snow in a week, the Buffalo airport has had just 20.6 inches so far.
"It has to be official from the National Weather Service," said Pat DeCoursey, who keeps tabs on the snow contests. "There are a lot of good snow spotters up there, and I respect them, but they're really not official snow stats."
Buffalo still has double the snow Syracuse has had so far -- 10.1 inches -- but that could change this week. A major East Coast storm could bring up to a foot of snow to Central New York, which could vault Syracuse into first place.
