Despite foul trouble for Rakeem Christmas, the Orange were able to keep the Eagles at arm's length and hold on for a 69-61 victory. The soft start to the ACC slate is over, and the Orange will next welcome the Miami Hurricanes—who have already beaten Duke and Florida—to the Dome on Saturday. The game against Boston College was telling for the Orange. Christmas was forced to sit much of the second half with four fouls, and Syracuse struggled to find continuity on offense with its go-to scorer on the pine. The Orange did have five players score in double figures, but it was still barely enough to hold off BC. While Syracuse only has six players who can contribute this year, reinforcements are on the way next season. Per 247Sports, Syracuse has the nation's eighth-best recruiting class for 2015. The class consists of four 4-star (according to 247Sports) players: guardsFranklin Howard and Malachi Richardson, and forwards Tyler Lydon and Moustapha Diagne. ... Don't lose any more games to second-tier teams in the ACC; 2. Score a couple more wins against ranked opponents; 3. Build a resume without Chris McCullough, the 6-10 Bronx freshman out for the year with a torn ACL. So far, so good. Tuesday's 69-61 victory over Boston College was the very definition of "taking care of business'' as the Orange used a 31-5 run, then hung on late. It was a nice way to wash away the grime of a 13-point drubbing at Clemson over the weekend. Most encouraging was how SU, whose bench is as deep as a Kardashian biography, survived a game with senior center Rakeem Christmas in foul trouble and sitting 17 minutes. Chinonso Obokoh, the former Bishop Kearney standout, was able to contribute some quality time, chipping in four rebounds and a block. ... The Tar Heels dominated the paint all night against the Demon Deacons. That, plus a look at Thursday's three-game schedule, in the ACC night in review. NIGHT TO REMEMBER Brice Johnson, North Carolina The junior forward produced one of his best halves of the season Wednesday, scoring 13 of his 19 points before the break as North Carolina bolted to an early lead and then rolled to an 87-71 victory at Wake Forest. Johnson finished with six rebounds for the Tar Heels (15-4, 5-1 ACC), who avoided losses on the road against the Demon Deacons (9-10, 1-5) in back-to-back seasons.
