SU chancellor talks Hopkins: 'I think the world of him' (Roch D&C)
Syracuse University Chancellor Kent Syverud said Friday that he has reached out to assistant men's basketball coach Mike Hopkins in the past 24 hours, "and will be talking to him frequently and soon."
Syverud has taken criticism for not speaking publicly about Hopkins, who is widely seen as the university's head coach in waiting. He sidestepped the question on Thursday, saying it was not the time to discuss the matter. When asked during a telephone interview Friday evening and pressed for a timeframe on when he might decide, Syverud had this to say:

"I thought yesterday should be about Coach (Jim) Boeheim, and he should have an opportunity for it to be about him and talking about his career and his program, which I thought he did very well."
