Lower Merion's BJ Johnson to Transfer to LaSalle (philly.com; O'Brien)
B.J. Johnson, a former Lower Merion basketball standout who is transferring from Syracuse after two seasons, committed Monday to continue his career at La Salle.
Johnson's father, Bobby, was a sharpshooting wing guard for ex-coach Speedy Morris and the Explorers from 1986 to 1990. "I couldn't be happier about B.J.'s decision," the Southern High School graduate said. "There's a legacy there which I think he'll eclipse."
A 6-foot-7, 190-pound sophomore forward, B.J. Johnson averaged 4.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in 25 games for Syracuse in the recently completed season. He will sit out next season, according to NCAA rules, and have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2016-17.
Bobby Johnson said that Penn State, Seton Hall, St. Joseph's, and Temple also expressed interest in his son. "We didn't want this to be a long, drawn-out process," the elder Johnson said. "B.J. met with [La Salle coach] John Giannini and was satisfied that he'll get ample opportunity to show his talents."
How Syracuse Stacks Up with Other Regional Final Hosts (PS; Ditota)
Tickets are the cheapest, airfare the highest. But no one else has Dino BBQ...
East Regional basketball tickets in the Carrier Dome are the cheapest of the four Sweet 16 regions in the NCAA Tournament. But it'll cost fans more to fly here to attend the games.
So says a joint venture by priceline.com and online ticket marketplace TiqIQ.com, which estimated the costs of attending the Sweet 16 games.
The average ticket price to attend all three Syracuse sessions (two games on Friday, one on Sunday) was estimated at $316.35. Friday games featuring North Carolina State versus Louisville and Oklahoma against Michigan State cost an average of $230.48; Sunday seats in the Dome cost about $188.07.
Compare those to the highest tickets left in the tournament &mdash: a chance to see Kentucky continue its perfect season. Those seats at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland cost an estimated $1,130.49 for all three sessions, $452.48 for the Kentucky-West Virginia and Notre Dame-Wichita State matchups; $466 for the game that sends a representative to the Final Four.
The West Regional in Los Angeles (all sessions $571.27) was followed by the South Regional in Houston (all sessions $437.45), then Syracuse.
Flying here, though, will cost more than flying any place else in the tournament, which should surprise nobody who frequents Hancock Airport. Cost of a round-trip ticket to each of the Sweet 16 sites, in order: Syracuse $376, Los Angeles $346, Houston $320 and Cleveland $295.

ACC On Cusp of Unprecedented Success (foxsports.com; Brownlow)
At this time last year, the ACC's only hope remaining in the NCAA tournament was Virginia. Now, Virginia's loss in the Round of 32 to 7-seed Michigan State is the league's only blight.
At this time last year, national pundits were mocking the ACC supposedly being the greatest conference ever with the addition of Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame (Louisville would come this year in exchange for Maryland, which didn't make the tournament in 2014). After all, the league at the time had just one team in the Sweet 16 (Virginia). Three ACC teams got a top-three seed. Of those, just one made it out of the first weekend.
The 6-6 record was worth a chuckle or two, at least. It was the ACC's worst postseason march since 2006. And all that with the additions of the new programs intended to bolster the league. Instead, No. 3 seed Syracuse was upset by an 11-seed, and Pitt -- a 9-seed -- lost in the second round to No. 1 seed Florida. Dukelost to 14-seed Mercer in the first round.
Jimmy Fallon Invites Crying Nova Piccolo Player tp Play with The Roots (Video; PS; Fleming)
The Villanova piccolo player who went viral Saturday night after she cried on national television during the Wildcats' third round loss appeared on 'The Tonight Show' Monday night.
Villanova student Roxanne Chalifoux became Internet famous when a camera caught a glimpse of her crying. Jimmy Fallon invited her to play with the show's house band, The Roots.
During the clip, Chaifoux and The Roots played the Villanova fight song and Fallon showered her with gifts including a gift basket and two tickets to see Taylor Swift.
"We know you like Taylor Swift," Fallon said. "So we called up Taylor and she gave you two tickets to her world tour."
