Boeheim was announced as the winner in December and was honored at the annual College Basketball Awards ceremony in Oklahoma City on Tuesday night, an event chronicled by The Oklahoman newspaper.

"It means a lot," Boeheim told the newspaper. "(Wayman Tisdale) was a really special guy. This year getting the Jimmy V Award at Dick (Vitale's) thing next month and this one, they're two probably the best awards I've ever gotten. They're very meaningful."

Boeheim is the fifth winner of the award and joins an exclusive club of college basketball coaches and personalities. Previous winners include Bill Self, Tom Izzo, Mike Krzyzewski and Dick Vitale.[/I]
