Chris McCullough Will Attend NBA Combine (PS; Carlson)
Former Syracuse forward Chris McCullough will attend the NBA Combine later this month, according to a list put out by the NBA.
McCullough will join Rakeem Christmas and many of the draft's top prospects at the event.
McCullough is still recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL, which should limit his participation in the physical parts of the combine, but he should still be able to take part in the measurement and interview portions of the event.
Part of the allure with McCullough are his measurables and, at the combine, teams take a players' height, weight, wingspan, standing reach, body fat, hand length and hand width. Teams also interview many of the prospects they are interested in.
While the combine will include 5-on-5 competition for the first time this year, many of the top players at the event will only be in attendance to take medical exams and do physical testing.

Why One Recruiting Analyst Thinks SU Commit Matthew Moyer is a Top 20 Recruit (PS; Carlson)
When Syracuse assistant Gerry McNamara first spied Matthew Moyer, the Ohio prospect was a hidden gem, a recruit locatedoff the radar of most recruiting analysts whose rankings seemed to indicate he'd grow into a solid player.
Since then, Moyer has done nothing but impress, climbing up lists and putting up points. Nearly every recruiting service has elevated him since last summer, with Moyer's current ranking ranging from No. 43 (Rivals) to No. 61 (Scout).
One analyst, however, has always viewed Moyer as more of a blue-chip prospect than lunch-pail player. 247 Sports director of basketball recruiting Jerry Meyer currently ranks Moyer as the No. 19 player in the Class of 2016, an area he reserves for projected NBA talent.
"I've always had him as a Top 20 player since the first time I saw him," Meyer said. "I would hope my top 20 kids all make the NBA. You'd hope they'd be successful in college, unless they leave early."
Meyer said he first saw Moyer in person last July. The 6-foot-8 forward committed to the Orange a month later. Meyer saw him in April in Dallas.
Meyer said he instantly felt Moyer owned many of the skills forwards try to develop, and the glaring thing that he lacks is the one thing that is almost sure to come with teenagers.

How and Why Did SU Commit Matthew Moyer Convince His Friend to Pick Ohio State? (PS; Waters)
Two weeks ago, Micah Potter committed to Ohio State University.
Potter, a 2016 recruit from Mentor, Ohio, did so in part after getting some advice from Syracuse University recruit Matthew Moyer.
Cleveland.com recently wrote about the interesting connectionbetween the two Ohio products.
Moyer, a native of Columbus, Ohio, played with Potter on a team of Ohio prospects in the APL Junior World Championships in Lissone, Italy last month.
Potter, a three-star recruit, had received an offer from Ohio State, but he didn't know whether to take it or continue with the recruiting process to see what other schools might offer him.
"I said, 'If you lost the Ohio State offer tomorrow, how would you feel about that?'" Moyer said. "He said he'd be shook, torn apart. So I said, 'In that case, don't wait any longer.'"

Kaleb Joseph Postscript: So Many in the Syracuse Basketball Community Rally to the Kid's Side (PS; Poliquin)
Earlier this week, I provided a little offering on Kaleb Joseph, Syracuse University's freshman point guard who'd been anointed by Sports Illustrated as one of the nine "most disappointing" players in the nation this past season.
Well, folks responded in the "Comments" section. And they passed along a few emails — so many of which were almost in the form of old-fashioned telegrams, two of which (down there at the bottom) were not so kind to me.
Anyway, I share this particular batch with you at this time. And in so doing, I guess I'm letting Kaleb know that he's got more than a few fans in this town.
Have at it . . .
These national writers can say anything and bear no accountability.
Chad Ford now says that Chris McCullough will be drafted 35th. Back in December he said he'd be a lottery pick. On one hand they make one 19-year-old kid think he's a lot better than he is and possibly ruin what otherwise could be a good career. Then on the other, they take another 19-year-old, publicly label him a "bust" and who knows what affect that will have on the kid?
Nice way for grown-ups to make a living.

Please let Kaleb know that the real fans admire him for sticking with it. And we believe that nothing but good will come of that!

Great column. Disgraceful to see that story from Sports Illustrated. And I let that nitwit, David Gardner, know it . . . as I suspect many others have.

This year's Downtown Living Tour features perennial favorites among tour-goers and new properties alike.
Some of the newer additions include the Courier Building near Syracuse City Hall and Clinton Street Commons near the Inner Harbor.
Familiar stops include Pike Block, which will serve as tour headquarters once again, and the Dey Brothers building. Both have been on the tour several times in the past, but also regularly draw big crowds.
The event takes place May 16.
The tour features eight properties total. The annual event, organized by the Downtown Committee of Syracuse, highlights the latest and best in downtown living.
Participants get a look at various apartments and condos around downtown.
The neighborhood is now home to more than 1,100 market-rate apartments. The population downtown has grown 21 percent in the past three years and 48 percent in the last decade.
