(TNIAAM; Sigel) With top 2016 target Tyus Battle off the board, Syracuse will likely offer one more guard for the 2016 class. Who will it be? The three likely candidates are Jamal Murray, Quinton Rose or Howard Washington. All three are very capable guards to play at the next level, and all three have expressed interest in Syracuse. Howard Washington, a 4-star guard, transferred from Buffalo (NY) to Montverde Academy (FL) where he won a National Championship this past season. Syracuse and Washington have been in contact for over a year now, however the Orange haven't extended an offer. The 6-2 point guard has truly developed his game since last season, and there's only room to grow. I've talked with Howard numerous times, and he expresses high interest in Syracuse each time. Boston College, Memphis, Texas Tech, Notre Dame, Virginia and Virginia Tech are among a few schools that have offered Washington. Quinton Rose, a 6-5 guard, will be a senior at Bishop Kearney High School in Rochester (NY). Rose, like Washington, has very high interest in the Orange and have remained in contact. Coach Hopkins visited Rose during a sectional game in March and continues to stay in contact. Quinton is your typical Syracuse guard prospect: long, athletic and likes to get out in transition. His skill set continues to grow, as do his offers. Florida State, Miami, Wake Forest, Memphis and Penn State are among a few. ... There are the usual transfers, who leave one school to get more playing time at another or want to be closer to home. But adding to the comings and goings these days are the heavy influx of graduate transfers. These are players who have finished their degrees at one school but still have eligibility remaining. The NCAA allows those players to transfer and become immediately eligible without sitting out a year. The result is a constantly-changing landscape, and the ACC is part of that landscape. Here is a look at the biggest impact transfers to and from ACC schools as we look to the 2015-16 season: Top 5 ACC transfers who sat out last season Seth Allen, Virginia Tech: The 6-foot-1 point guard averaged 13.4 points per game for Maryland in the 2013-14 season. He then left Maryland in a move that surprised many. Allen should provide a scoring boost for a Virginia Tech team that finished 2-16 in the ACC last season. Terry Henderson, N.C. State: For the third straight year, N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried will add an impact transfer. Two years ago, it was Ralston Turner from LSU. Last year, it was Trevor Lacey from Alabama. This time around, it's the 6-4 Henderson from West Virginia. Henderson, a Raleigh native, averaged 11.7 points per game for the Mountaineers two years ago. Now, he'll try to make up for the losses of Turner and Lacey in the Wolfpack's offense. ... Calipari signed a seven-year extension last year that paid him $7.5 million annually. The new deal comes on the same day that the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans fired Monty Williams, with Calipari's name bandied around as a potential option for a team centered around his former players. Calipari ranks 26th on college basketball's all-time list with 635 wins and comes off a season in which his team went 38-1 and lost in the Final Four to Wisconsin. It was the second consecutive Final Four appearance for the Wildcats and fourth in the last five years. Most college basketball experts list Kentucky among the favorites to win a national title next year. Calipari has parlayed Kentucky's success in the NBA Draft into a reputation as one of the marquee stops in the country for players looking to play a single year before turning professional. ... Robert "King of Ming" Ellsworth, a wealthy regular of Donahue's Steak House, set aside $100,000 in his will for two of his favorite waitresses at the restaurant, the New York Post reports. "I was shocked,'' Maureen Donohue-Peters, 53, says. She was given the money with niece Maureen Barrie, 28. "I just couldn't believe it. I didn't expect anything." Fox News says Ellsworth apparently didn't know the last names of the two servers at Donohue's Steak House, as he referred to them in the will as "Maureen at Donohue's" and "Maureen-at-Donohue's Niece Maureen." The NY Post says Ellsworth, who was worth an estimated $200 million, died in August. He ate seven meals a week at the joint, making the 15-block walk to dine at Donohue's for the last 50 years of his life. Donohue-Peters is the daughter of the restaurant's founder, and has worked in the family restaurant her whole life, Business Insider reports. Ellsworth was "more than just a customer," Donohue-Peters says. ...
