Coach Mark Schmidt’s Bonnies will play a non-conference game against Syracuse at the Carrier Dome on Nov. 17, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. It will be the first matchup between the two teams, who played each other regularly in the 1970s and into the 1980s, since the 2009-10 campaign. Many fans expressed their excitement on social media about the matchup, which Rothstein tweeted out Wednesday. Most have been clamoring to see the Orange back on Bona’s schedule and for their team to get another shot at polarizing coach Jim Boeheim. There’s been no word on if Bona will get a return game in a location such as Rochester or Buffalo the following season. In their last meeting, on Dec. 19, 2009, the Bonnies lost to No. 5 Syracuse, 85-72, in the Dome.
