It is the University’s 147th birthday, a day to celebrate its founding on March 24, 1870. “National Orange Day is probably the most amazing day out of the whole year because it’s a time to celebrate not only SU’s birthday but Otto’s too—even if you’re not here on campus,” says Malcolm-Ali Davis ’18, a member of the Student Philanthropy Council. “It’s also a day to say thank you for 147 years of changing lives and creating leaders. I’m so proud to be Orange, especially on National Orange Day.” Here are some of the ways that members of the University community can join in the celebration of National Orange Day:

Wear orange!
Join in the group photo that will be taken on the front steps of the Hall of Languages at 11:45 a.m. (rain location is the Schine Atrium).
Grab a cupcake and a high-five from Otto the Orange in the Schine Atrium from noon to 2 p.m.
Send birthday wishes using #CelebrateSU on social media.
Share your National Orange Day photos.
Check out the community service projects Syracuse University alumni are doing in cities across the country.
Make a birthday gift to the part of Syracuse you love most.
SU News REPORT: Justin Lustig Leaving Edinboro For Syracuse (herosports.com; Prosba) In a very surprising turn of events across the D2 landscape, Edinboro head football coach Justin Lustig has reportedly resigned to become the running backs coach and special teams coordinator for the Syracuse Orange. While the move is definitely a result of Lustig's Edinboro squad orchestrating the biggest turnaround in D2 history (from 0-11 to 9-2), this is still a shock after the former Ball State assistant only served one year in Northwestern PA. Under Lustig, the Fighting Scots became an offensively-dominated program, raising the game of almost every player on the team to the point of success that 'Boro had not tasted in nearly a decade. Chief among the improvements was Jake Sisson, the junior quarterback for the Scots who enjoyed near record-breaking numbers for the program and looked to be one of the brightest stars returning to the PSAC this season. While the Scots should definitely be a decent team still, there is now a cloud of doubt hanging above the football team as their former coach left just two days into spring practices. From a team that once looked like a sneaky contender who could get into the D2 Playoffs, Edinboro now resembles a program that has no compass on their map to success. There is no word on what this could do for recruiting, as there are no out-clauses in D2 recruiting as there are in the FBS or FCS. So the 20 or so players that signed to play under Lustig will now be forced to play for a new coach, at least for one season. ...
