Syracuse appears to be in great shape for the future at the QB position, with Eric Dungey back and healthy for his sophomore year, Rex Culpepper waiting in the wings, and Elite 11 finalist Tommy DeVito already on campus. But that doesn’t mean that Syracuse is going to stop trying to stock the cupboard with talented arms. After all, if anyone knows how quickly things can turn sideways at the QB position, it’s Syracuse fans. Thanks to an unprecedented string of injuries, the Orange have put six different QBs on the field since 2015 (Dungey, Zack Mahoney, AJ Long, Austin Wilson, Terrel Hunt, and Mitch Kimble). In other words: you can never be too loaded at the most important spot on the field. And that’s why Chance Amie remains such a high priority for the coaching staff. While the defense was abysmal, but improved slightly as season progressed. A lot of that was because of injuries. We all knew the defense would be bad, but after key starters were lost, it got even worse. So the best way to fix that for the Orange is by adding some depth. While the specific recruiting rankings vary across platforms, the Orange are higher than they’ve been in a while.
